I'm not even surprised that an islander came up with this comment...
You don'T even know what an Ultra is...
Ultras are not hooligans, Ultras are fans that have the "ultra" mentality, the "beyond" mentality that their football club is more than just 11 players running around the field...
Most Ultra groups are organized groups who arrange Tifo displays, chants, etc.
They also organize protests if they disagree with what their club just did because their club represents them personally and they care of what they do.
Most of the ultra groups have rules. All of them have these 4 rules that you have to follow:never stop singing or chanting during a match, no matter what the result
- Never stop singing during a match
- never sit down during a match
- attend as many games, home or away, whatever the price and distance.
- loyalty to your kop.
In that particular order.
The idea of going to a game is not to put your butt in the seat, eat your god damn meat pie and hope that your team is going to score more goals that their opposition.
The idea of ultras is to fully support your team and more than that. If they lose, you are part of the reason why they lost because you didn't support them enough. If they win, you are part of the reason why they won because you gave them that extra .
I, for one, am part of an ultra group and every summer when I go back home, I attend all the god damn matches that I can and abuse my vocal cords with chanting and I am proud when my team wins.
Now... The Ultras groups that you seem to think of are the extremists, racist and idiotic hooligan groups. Even they don'T consider themselves ultras. They are known as extremists.
Then again, you have clubs that were owned or created by racist or fascist groups, like Lazio or Atletico Madrid. Of course the chances of their fans being racist are higher as they identify themselves to that club and that cause...
I'm kind of surprised that you, as a Sampdoria fan and as an Italian footy fan, don't know the meaning of Ultras...
