i didn't get to see the matches, I was stuck in class and my Streams weren't working...

I saw CSKA won though - The Ruskies are coming...

Anyone else impressed how these Russian clubs are starting to impose themselves in European Competitions like in the 80s... It's a matter of time until the Russian league becomes one of the top leagues in Europe, imo, maybe one day surpassing one of the main western leagues.

^Yea I read a good article a while ago about the rise and fall of Eastern European / Russian teams. They reckoned there would be a shift of power in the not too distant future.

I think Germany and Russia would be battling it out for the 5th best league in Europe behind England, Spain, Italy and France right now

Well how would you guys rank the leagues at the moment?

Personally...

1st: England - Only by a bit over Spain though.
2nd: Spain
3rd: Serie A
4th: Germany
5th: France / Russia

Else from Lyon (and maybe Bordeaux), most top Russian clubs can take out the French clubs... Rubin Kazan, Spartak Moscow, Zenit, CSKA, etc ... Especially when they're at home. It's not an easy task to play in Russia.

Germany and France are close, I wouldn't put portugal/netherlands too far behind Germany. I think the Netharlands could see a resurgance in these recessionary times wth the strength of their youth systems

Yeah, I have a hard time deciding if Premier is over la Liga or the other way around, but looking at it this season - Premier clubs are doing better I think.

And Portugal over Russia, really? What makes you say that?

russia definately passed portugal in the last two years with zenith st petersburg, rubin kazan and the moscow teams flying in europe

i think that since Porto won the champions league not too long ago and have been doing fairly well in the competition in recent years apart from their hammering this season. Benfica are also a good side imo. could win the Europa.

Inter - Bayern
Man Utd - Barcelona
Arsenal - Lyon
CSKA - Bordeaux

I would much rather face Barcelona in the latter stages of the comp but I wouldn't be dissappointed if we got them now simply because of the spectacle.. :)

The only team I want to avoid is CSKA because of the long flights...
