Aston Villa knocked out by Rapid Vienna. Lol.
will be interesting to see kaka play against his former club too.

united have a very easy group.

also, thug style. we should have put the game away. i dont know why young was the penalty taker in the first place. he was never really second choice after barry. now that we have milner he should be our primary spot kick taker.

the penalty miss was the difference in the end. chances from heskey should have won it. but i must admit that terrible close range miss by one of their players definately should have sealed it for them.

good performances by shorey, guzan, milner, carew and cuellar. they brought gabby and albrighton on too late.

the only benefit from this is that we can now concentrate on the premierhsip - so bearing that in mind we better make the most of this season because i want to see a good league finish and european football next season and of course id like to win a cup as well.

I was reading the Irish Independent today and they there was a piece in the sports section where they looked at the teams the english clubs will face in the champions league. They gave their opinion on who was the player to watch for each team. I had a look at who they thought was their player to watch for Wolfsburg and they had Obefami Martins. are they fucking serious? I hate so called football journalists that havent a clue about football outside of England. Of course Martins is a pretty good player but surely after the seasons Misimovic, Grafite and Dzeko had for Wolfsburg last season one of them should be the player to watch. I bet this guy has never heard of any of them and picked Martins because he played with Newcastle in premier league last season.

It's always like that Bobs.

Dzeko has been having a slow season up to date for Wolfs, but the Bundesliga just started, and he started slow last season also. Misimovic is a monster, if I owned a club, I'd go backrupt trying to buy him. He's a miracle creator.

It's always like that though, some of the greatest players go unnoticed because they don't have that exposure the Premier league has. Like I said, I can go into the Polish, Czech, Greek and even Romanian league and take out 3 players from each and they'll be better than any player in the Premier that's worth 24MIL ... *Cough-Lescott-Cough* ...

they read an email from a chelsea fan on sky sports just now. He said he would be fuming if a chelsea player dived like Eduardo the other night. oh dear.

Its almost as bad as the banner some of those cunts had on the opening day of the season against Hull after John Terry finally decided to snub Man City.. It read:

"Money cant buy everything
John Terry = Chelsea FC"

again oh dear.

And what about Drogba... He's heavier than a mountain gorilla and flies to the floor when he faces the size of a player like Spud Webb.

I hope they fuck themselves.

lmao @ the Drogba analogy. It's true, though. Club passion is one thing but some people just turn into shining beacons of hypocrisy.

Wenger Calls UEFA's Eduardo Case A "Witch Hunt"

LONDON (Reuters) - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger accused UEFA on Friday of mounting a "witch hunt" against his striker Eduardo da Silva and said the "disgraceful" decision to open a disciplinary case against him set a dangerous precedent.

UEFA said on Friday it was opening disciplinary proceedings against Eduardo for "deceiving the referee" after the Brazilian-born Croatian international won a penalty in Arsenal's Champions League playoff victory over Celtic.

"I find it a complete disgrace," Wenger said at a news conference when asked about the UEFA charge.

"There is nothing conclusive (in the pictures). It singles out a player in Europe to be a cheat and that is not acceptable."

He added: "For me it's a witch hunt. It is not an objective judgement of the case. Eduardo was touched by the goalkeeper and we can prove that."

Eduardo went down in the Celtic game after poking the ball past goalkeeper Artur Boruc, who dived at his feet but appeared to make little or no contact with the striker. Arsenal won the match 3-1 to go through 5-1 on aggregate.

BROKEN LEG

Eduardo spent a year out of the game after suffering a badly broken leg in February 2008 and Wenger drew a comparison between the gravity of that incident and the current case.

"It is funny in football because you can break the legs of players and it doesn't make a debate for anybody but this case has been all over the world and is being treated like Eduardo has killed somebody," Wenger said.

Wenger was particularly angered by what he saw as the decision to open the case even though the referee had ruled on the incident during the match. That, he said, set a precedent allowing for every decision to be challenged.

"The existing rules of football have been changed just for this case, so from now on, we will challenge every single decision, I tell you, that is made in Europe by the referees," Wenger said.

"This is the first time I have been in football that the judgement of the referee has not been accepted... So they have opened a door that a decision seen by the referee and assessed by the referee can be challenged. They have opened a very dangerous door there."

I agree with Wenger for the most part.

But how the fuck can you defend the act itself by saying "he was touched by the goalkeeper"??!! He should criticise Eduardo as harshly as he does the decision by the UEFA....because guess what, if the idiot didnt cheat by diving there would have been no discussion and debate in the first place.

Thats true, Seb, but you can't really blame Wenger for wanting to protect his player a bit here.

But yeah I agree with him as well. It's a total witch hunt. I'm all for getting rid of diving on the pitch, but to scapegoat one player? Ludicrous.

They're now trying to scare players into not diving anymore with over the top behaviour, whereas they could just hang a few cameras around the field, put the 4th official behind a computer monitor and PRESTO.

But football is sadly enough ruled by old white men.

Isn't Platini suggesting having 2 refs behind the net now? ....

Looks like Barca won another cup lol.

So what have they won altogether?

Spanish Liga Champs
Copa Del Rey Champs
Champions League Champs
Spanish Supercup Champs
UEFA Supercup Champs

.... Ain't that a pickle

Now we have to see if they can win the CL back to back and be the only team in the new format to do so.

Yes Platini does want some change. But he's still against using electronics. But at least its something stirring the water now.
