Zidane makes another return from his retirement.

Nah, born in Marseille & he's of Algerian descent.

And nobody told Zidane to quit - he chose to himself. The only question people raised, in regards to quitting, is if he should stay retired from international football.

And your ringing endorsement means what to "doubters"?
..and im not saying anybody told him to quit.

The best player of the past few years was not the topic though, Zidane was & is & people just gave their thoughts on the man.

One person made a crazy comment that meant that the "past few years" was extended to like 30 years & people responded accordingly.

Now, if you have an opinion to the contrary, then by all means give it. But there is no need to jump into the thread talking shit. And it might help if you specified more rather than just saying "brazilian" & "brazilians".
it doesnt matter what was the topic the discussion came to this...first of all im brazilian and i dont speak english very well that makes me sometimes use words that dont express(?) what i really want to say but are the ones i know.said that i think its disgustin when a bunch of people that dont know shit about what theyre talkin come out sayin SHIT! well u want names? ZICO, ROMARIO, RONALDO...now sit and wait for ROBINHO...then ANDERSON.. its a new players machine and u cant nothin but say shit and watch us win!

First & foremost, inform me if you can't understand this: calm down.

And you might want to explain how it's "disgusting" for people to think Zidane is the best player of the last 15 years or how it's "disgusting" for them to think that Maradona is the greatest player of all time.

Zico, Romario, Ronaldo, Robinho & Anderson (I'm thinking the Gremio kid & not good old Sonny lol).....ok.

Zico - a legend, nobody contests this, but what is your point?
Romario - another legend but, again, what is your point?
Ronaldo - yet another legend, but what is your point?

And Robinho & Anderson can't even come into the equation since they're pretty much nothing in the grand scheme of things - no offence intended.

oh, i thought i had read peopleo talkin about the best player of the past years and not talkin about ANY brazilian but if its not sorry man..but if its go suck a dick lil bitch talkin about arrogance with the best? dont fuck around with brazilians when its about football or soccer (i dont know how they call it in canada ahahah, do u play there?) i was not hatin though i agree it looks like i was..hey yall keep tryin but u know shit on this issue
Did I say Zidane was the best? I said he was one of the best. Here in Canada we call it soccer, so like many north americans on this board. I used to play in high school. Not now anymore, but I'm gonna start again soon.

If I want to refer to the best player that ever lived, I'll call out Brazil and Pelle. I'd be stupid to say otherwise. Oh yeah, I g2g, but I co-sign what Calcuo said.

and when I said 15-20year period, I put in 20 for maradona cause that was the hight of his capabilities.

edit: oh ya, coyote-tf, we're playing Brazil in a couple of weeks. Friendly though, we'll see Croatia Vs. Brazil. ;) It's gonna be the first time we play Brazil, should have been you and us in the finals back in 98, but Boban was a fucking idiot that game.

its disgustin for me to have to read that kind of shit not for people..get it? what do u mean whats my point??!! my point is that any of these players eat zidane alive... and you'll swallow what u said about ROBINHO in less than a year..as i said sit and wait, it means future u know...and yes im talkin about that GREMIO kid hes insane im gremio (i dont know the word, suporter???) and i could bring ronaldinho (also from gremio) to this but i wouldnt be loyal doin that...we got them all...
i wanna make clear that im not hatin i like talkin about football with people from another countries and my only intention is make my point strongly clear

i went crazy that game i still luv that insane player u got bilic i think..here we got a expression that is amarelar(means get yellow (or kinda)) and its used when the player or the team simply wasted a game for fear, cowardness(?) and tension, and that was what happened that day...qualifyin and friendly dont means nothin to us the players dont give a shit...u might even win this one but know that: the WC is already ours, no joke, theres no other option.. ronaldo said that so u betta believe...

Ya, it could be Bilic you're talking about. lol. Pretty much the whole team was amazin back then. From Stanic, to Suker, to Jarni all the way to our keeper at the time, Ladic.

Most of them have retired now anyways, so we have fresh blood and we're doing great.

Just stated it cause when you say friendly, alot of people say ''Oh it doesn't matter, it's just a friendly'', to me a match is a match.

Oh, now now, don't count your chickens before they hatch. The WC always has a surprize hiding within it's sleeve. ;)

Anyways, I'm out guys. You all have a good afternoon and night.

Peace.

Not really. this doesn't really make sense, probably just the language barrier.

Zico retired in 1990 or something which automatically rules him out of being the best player of the last 15 years.

Romario was a great player, but at club level he only spent 3 years or something in a top league - 2 at Barcelona, 1 at Valencia - & never made a big impact in the Champion's League. I do recognize that he had an uncanny knack for scoring goals & one of the elite international scoring records. However, Zidane has done it all at the top level - both internationally & domestically - & his overall skill level is equal to, if not better than, Romario's.

Ronaldo was & remains a great player. I would say that in '96 & '97 Fifa got it right & he deserved to be crowned as the best player in the world. However, his form took a crazy dip following his injury trouble & consistency counts for a lot. Obviously he is tremendously talented, but I am of the opinion that Zidane was a better player than him in the past 15 years.

Why would I take back what I said about Robinho? What I said was absolutely true & to deny what I said is ridiculous. My comment did not reflect what Robinho might do or whatnot, only what he has done to date - which is not much.

And yes, the word's supporter or fan. I am aware that Ronaldinho played for Gremio before moving to Paris.

Your point & position is clear now.

Just read he's going to come back and play for France in the international games, including WC qualifying and more (if they qualify, which is unlikely)

Any thoughts?

youre funny man..let me tell u somethin..when u say that somebody is not the best because didnt win this or that youre provin that u dont know shit..if u think that a medal is everything then thats the difference between a guy who nows somethin about football and the one that reads about football and come out talkin like if got all the knowledge..if u had said i think zidane is better because i saw them all playin and i think this or that, but no, u point some shitty stuff .. no way... no dumb shit on me..about robinho if u cant understand im gonna think i didnt expressed me well again: im sayin that he is already the number one but u dont even know who he is and because hes not in europe and didnt win that shitty cups hes nothin...sit and wait

A medal haul is indicative of what a player has acheived. What a player has acheived will contribute to how they are perceived. I barely touched on actual skills because I was taking it for granted that you accepted Zico, Romario, Ronaldo & Zidane all had exceptional talent.

And you keep trying to talk personal or some shit. Let's get something straight, I've watched & played thousands of hours of football. I know more about football, it's history, it's players & it's competitions than you'll probably ever know. Egotistical? Most definitely. But true? Most probably.

And don't give me this bullshit about I don't know who Robinho is. I've been monitoring Robinho's progress since around 1999 or 2000, just after he first came to my attention. And he's not number one. Not because he's not in Europe, but because there's a bunch of players still playing right now who are better than him.

I try to restrain myself from clowning you since you have a ready-made excuse in your lack of English but still, you're pushing me.

If Ronaldo didn't get hacked down in Italy, he would have surpassed Zidane as the best player of our time.

His goal scoring record was crazy, it still is, and he ran 50-60 meteres in 5.3 seconds with the ball last season  not bad for a fatso.

Zidane is probably one of the best players ever, but i agree with many others, his age was starting to show in his latter games. Him coming back out of retirement will be like when jordan played basketball again for the wizards. Nothing spectacular but still great to watch.

I don't think it's really comparable to Jordan's situation since Zidane has been playing at domestic level non-stop for the past 15 years or so & in the last decade & a bit he has been a first team regular for the two clubs he was at - two of the biggest clubs in the world, might I add.

He got injured and the fatass shouldn't have eaten so much :D He's still a topstriker but not as good and fast as his years at PSV Eindhoven and Barca.

And to all the people beefing which player was the best, u can't compare a playmaker (zidane) with a striker.
