Your conclusion on God's existence

When and how did you conclude that God exists/does not exist? Was it a gradual process or did it happen over night? Were there one or more deciding factors? How sure are you of your conclusion? Do you think it possible (although unlikely) that you'll ever change your mind?

Thought it would be interesting to see the different reasons.

I used to pray sometimes when I was a kid, without really thinking about it. I also considering "converting" to Judaism, because I like Jewish women.

As soon as I was forced to ask myself the question, which may even have been when responding to a post in this very forum, I just decided/realised that I didn't believe in God. I just thought about it and dismissed it, realising how improbable it sounded. Since then, nothing has made me think otherwise.

I'm agnostic, so I admit the possibility of a god, but I will never choose to follow a specific god or religion.

It was a gradual process also, thinking of a god's existance through logicaly took some time. But eventually I solidified my opinion that thier is to much to worry about here on Earth then to try and live my life by another human's interpretation of what a god would want or think.

I am sure of my conclusion because I leave all possibilities open, just like you should do with any situation, especially if it will be effecting your life in a large way.

Good questions, stay up homes, what about you?

Lol, thats fucking awesome. hahaha.

It happened overnite. I went to sleep with Faith and I awoke with no Faith. She was gone.

But seriously, just never believed it. Most people's tradition, or idea, of God didn't make much sense on many levels to me. As soon as I ever thought about it, it all seemed like lazy thinking and delusional. Merely grown-up folk's way of looking to a father figure to take comfort in.

I used to believe in god, but never felt religion. I always believed it was a primitive form of law. A way of policing people, and to an extent controlling people. If you do this you will go to hell!!

When you think about it though, it doesn't make sense. If you use intelligence and look at science, then having a god seems as absurd as santa claus. I believe god is there because we are so afraid of our mortality.

Also looking at the bad cards people have been dealt, would god allow 1 person to feel so much pain?

Then there's the best example - Fat, ginger people. No one is that evil.

basically the same for me. i think reading all those threads about god and religion on this forum actually strengthened my non-believing.

although i wouldnt say that there is no chance at all i will change my point of view some time in the future.

I dont believe in god and have huge reservations on religion but i do hope there is a heaven of some sort out there.

As like many i have lost people close to me and hope they are ok , that they are safe and happy somewhere else , and that i will be able to meet them again some day . Sounds corny and i cling on with serious reservations but i hope its true .

But all this god with a white beard sitting on a cloud is very hard to believe .

I always ask religious people to answer - why did god decided to create the dinosaurs first ? for a laugh ?

This one gets them everytime :)

i would say gradual. personally, when i was younger i have to say, ignorance was bliss. believin in a higher power, despite what's really in front of me was easy to do and sometimes an easy way out. but as i got older and was exposed to more, the more shit didn't add up.

i'm not against believin in a higher power, especially if it helps a person better their life. but i can't accept that idea cause of my own experience through life.

now if i die and st. peter and his gang turn out to be for real, i'll take that charge. if a demon pops up in my bedroom and asks for my soul, i'll go to church. and if they can't forgive me for simply not being able to believe, with all the bullshit thats out here, i probably wouldn't wanna be there anyway.

I used to believe in God just minutes ago, But having read Jamie's question regarding the purpose for God creating the dinosaurs first had me thinking. Like he said "this question gets us all the time" and i must admit it got to me. I mean who wouldn't take the word of a man who believes God is sitting on a cloud with a long ass white beared? No one shouldn't!!

I love you :)

Can you answer the question though mr teck neex ?

I have never heard of the satan theory . So what was god doing when satan was creating the dinosaurs ? having his beard washed ?

Maybe that what he has been doing since he created man but has also gone for the permed look .

for those who don't believe in god,how do you explain the creation of the world?
Very good question and one that no-one can answer - but those who do believe in god and think the world it his creation , how did he do it and what proof is there that he did indeed do it ? That is another question which cannot be answered .

If God does exist then why did he stop here , why not create races and animals on other planets near us like mars for example ?

Why does he stand back and watch the devestation which happens on our planet on a daily basis , be it murderous crimes and poverty to the destruction of the rain forrests , surely he created the world so if he is so great then why sit back and watch its destruction , why not do something about it ?
