Arghm to educate some of you one of the strongest man which I heard or seen in an interview, back in in the past, never lifted a single weight in his life he just kept on doing push ups, sit ups, runing miles upon miles etc... he did around like 10k push ups around there, 30k sit ups ran like 20 miles i think he did that every day or was it weekly what ever its possible but my memory isn't working right so I can't remember how he looked like I'm sure he didn't look strong but he has enough endurance to power up two locomotors
This is a lil too wishy washy to be believable. Im not sayin it aint true but sayin somethin like "there was this guy back in the day, I don't remember his name and no-one else has heard of him, but he did this, with that...and..yea"

Got a link/name/source?

if u do 300 push ups a day 4 days a week, in a month you will see a huge difference. Its so much quicker as well, you dont have to travel to a gym, and 'Not really ken' i guess i dont want to spend money on something that i can have for free!

Yea, i was so happy when the results came after a month, my pecs were so pumped, my tri ceps , bi ceps were improved in strengh and size, and my shoulders became so much more stronger.

it wont make a huge difference, for everyone. I used to do 250 push-ups everynight for over a 2 months (over the summer). I bulked slightly, but it was mostly toning and conditioning that occured. The "gains" I made then can be easily surpassed by a 6 week cycle doing a chest workout twice (or even once) a week.

You were probably lookin at a picture of the hulk or somethin. don't get it twisted. :D but seriously, though pushups etc, will do u good, the results from lifting weights are significantly different. even if u incorporate some plyometrics into the pushups you can only go so far. to put it short, u will never be lifting beyond the weight of your upper body. with weights you can move up as you progress.

ah no.sit ups do nothing but tighten the abs muscles a little.you can do situps until you pass out,it will do nothing to reveal your abs. There is a layer of fat that hides them.Proper excercise and diet will get rid of it,even without doing a single situp.
Strengthens them too :p

Going to the Gym > Push Up's and Sit Up's

Sit Up's do shit for you, I did 100 a day for 4 months and saw no difference at all. Then I went to the Gym and ran a lot on the treadmill, and changed my diet and after 1 month I can already see a big difference on my abs.

Spot reduction's a myth, doing general running, rowing, aerobics, etc with a good diet should work better.

the only push ups and sit ups ive really seen do any good, arent the typical ones, they are the one that usher does, which strictly caring your own body weight, he stands on his hands and then does push ups, and he hangs by his feet and does sit ups. I know sit ups and push ups will do you good, but all the sports athletes, dont sit there doing push ups and sit ups, to get in shape, we would have fat athletes running around. I also think that it depends on what your body reacts to, my body doesnt react to sit ups, my body reacts to running and the weights and the gym where you do sit ups but with extra weight on your back. and actually before i was pregnant, swimming is a great way to get in shape as well, and i dont mean just playing with a rubber ducky in the pool.

ok actually everyone here is giving this guy a lot of shit. but if u take advice form professional atheletes u will know that there is thruth behind this. it all depends on what ur goals are, like if u wanna be huge and buff then ofcourse u need weights but if u wanna be lean and fit u dont need any weights at all.

If u are all familiar with bernard hopkins u will know that he uses NO WEIGHTS whatsoever and look how ripped and amazing his physique is and he is 41 years old. and all he does is ground excersises like push ups sit ups and chin ups and squats and all that shit where u use ur own bodyweight. and that is what gives him the stamina to still fight a full 12 rounds at age 41.

so all u people giving him shit for saying that u dont need any weights to have a great body ur all wrong, coz u really dont need weights for a great body. if bernard can do it without ever lifting a dumbell then so can anyone else.

of course u need to run and all that thats the most important but what this guy is trying to say is that u can replace artificial weight with ur own bodyweight and u will see great results. when he said puch ups and sit ups he didnt literally mean just those 2 he was only setting an example.

All I'll say is that I'm quite content without stepping foot into a gym. For three months I've stopped smoking, stopped drinking, stopped taking drugs.. I've eaten less and exercised more. Going for a 30 minute run almost every day, and Ive dropped from 80kg to 70kg. I'm not looking for a Mr. World physique, just get fitter and lose some of my excess beer gut. So far I've achieved that.

If I want to tone up and build muscle then the gym it shall be. However I do believe that doing press ups at home noticably builds up your body strength, used to do 150 a day a couple of years ago.

you don't need to goto the Gym, i'd agree with that cuz i don't but i have weights and a bench with leg exercise and abs exercise and bench press and butterfly facilities on it so basically i got a good proportion of the Gym on there, and im very happy with my current physique although i feel i cud be fitter.
