you are right. i remember the time when there were topics about religion/god etc and the threads were like 10 pages long. it was the time when i logged in and the first forum i visited was WoW. now i rarely visit it anymore...if i take a look i see 5 threads by hankaveli which are stupid as fuck...so i leave again...

Those threads were 10 pages long because everyone kept arguing over the smallest details instead of looking at the bigger picture.

Threads like that ultimatly knocked the forum down because no one here was able to admit they might be wrong, 99% of you are stubborn as shit.

good points Rukas, part of why I got sick of in depth debate here is cause no one could Concede even the smallest point, I take great pride in having an open mind and a willingness to be wrong, it’s like the line from fight club

People are stubborn, yes. That includes me, Hankaveli, Rukas, and 99% of the board. Since it's a messageboard, all you have is your intelligence. In debate, people get attacked for their intelligence and have no way to retaliate, like for example, slash the dude's tires. So, it's hard to admit you're wrong and admit a lack of intelligence and that's why people never concede a point. But, I'd rather have those 10 page threads than a thread with eight people saying they agree with each other. Also, like Jokerman stated, most people post based on their opinions, rather than knowledge because they don't have enough to respond. That includes me.

lol i don't really get into debates in WoW.. i mean like we been saying, most of the topics on here aren't debatable, and in the past i remember seeing a lot of religion and israel/palestine stuff, neither of which i know much about. if i'm going to be a dick, i'm going to be an informed dick. i won't just go into a thread and say "the u.s. sides with israel because the jews run hollywood, and the u.s. is always right." that ruins a thread, and frankly, it would ruin my reputation as being at least somewhat intelligent.

most of my debates turn out like the Rakim thread in the news section. i usually end it right away and whoever's against me just keeps saying the same shit i already shot down over and over again to make himself feel like his argument is valid.

i rarely ever lose debates because if i don't know something, i admit it rather than continue on spewing bullshit

they didnt knock the forum down at all. WoW was very active at the time..compare it to now and tell me what do you prefer? definitely the "past" option if u ask me.

right, "we" were arguing about some small details, so what? as long as it was/is interesting for us to talk about its nothing negative to discuss about details.
and no, we didnt forget to look at the bigger picture.

WoW should be a bit of both, if people debate great! but I try and post shit to open up people to things going on in the world.
