Just like it's ok to have bombed out Middle Eastern property lunchboxes and pictures of tortured and abused Arabs hanging out of every western home and shop

See you're not the only one that can make shit up here. I'm quite good at that myself

Also, Did i forget to mention that people tend to resort to these kind of actions after thousands of bombs get dropped on their homeland yearly? hell id praise any kind of attack against the enemy after going through what they've went through.

so not only have they shown that the very reason they are roiting is because they have been insulted but as they roit they insuit innocent ppl that havint done fuck all insulting there country and hurting the ppl that lost famliy in the 9/11.
Lol. you made a great point here. I agree that when they burn flags, riot and insult a country they're insulting innocent civilians as well. But so does drawing offensive pictures of a Prophet/Founder of a religion. you insult the prophet, you insult innocents, you paint their prophet as a terrorist, you're painting every follower of that religion as a terrorists and so on, catch my drift? this just proves how one sided some of you are

i cant see 100.000 muslim being put in gas chambers and being made to wear a star on there sleeve
Your country and a bunch of fellow butchers are half way to 100 000 in Iraq.

lol there my 2 pence anyway Peace
Well Billy you sure do have a funny way of showing that, I'll tell you that much

Anyone who looks at those pics and believe that Islam is a terrorist religion is an idiot. These riots are just dumb, I would understand some civilized protests, but saying "Death to those who insult Islam!" doesn't help your cause or give a good light to Islam for those who don't know what it is about.

I agree with you there. I laughed my ass off at those pictures and felt embarrassed at the same time, that's absolutely the wrong way to go about this.

not all muslims are rioting and reacting the way the media is portraying it...

To: Jyllands-Posten newspaper
Dear Sir,

We were extremely offended not only as Muslims but as humans by the cartoons that were published by the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten portraying the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in what we believe as a stereotypical unfounded offensive imagery. Prophet Muhammad not only was a messenger, but he also embodied and exemplified universal human values that no Muslim, Christian or Jew could disagree upon. We believe that attacking the person of the prophet in such, a stereotypical generalized way, is an attack on these human values themselves. Therefore we are not only recording here our outrage as Arabs Muslims but also as Arab Christians and humans. Finally, it is not an Islamic act to counter-attack with an equally offensive response; we only have one remark to make, no Muslim will ever portray Jesus Christ in an equally insulting way, because we believe in him as a messenger who too embodied universal human values, neither will we ever offend Moses or any other messenger of God, or even a respectable great man like Ghandi for example. These great men, we believe, were rarely if ever subject to such a public offense such as that targeted at the person of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). We believe that the above mentioned newspaper has broken an unwritten code of common respect to long valued human foundations. It is unwritten, because it is a universal law, that was not imagined to be broken in such an outrageous manner, and not only do we demand an apology to the Muslim community but to the human community as a whole.

Sincerely,

It's more a clash between cultures than anything else. The Islamic world does not generally tolerate mocking religion, be it Islam, Christianity etc.

The Western World however has a lot more non-religious people and is generally more comfortable with political cartoons.

What pisses me off more than anything else, is that there are kids starving of hunger in this world, but two Danish cartoons is big fucking deal, woopty woop international crises!

The response from a good portion of the European press, and the majority of European society is neatly summed up in the editorial from France Soir (translated via the Guardian):

Quote:

It is necessary to crush once again the infamous thing, as Voltaire liked to say. This religious intolerance that accepts no mockery, no satire, no ridicule. We citizens of secular and democratic societies are summoned to condemn a dozen caricatures judged offensive to Islam. Summoned by who? By the Muslim Brotherhood, by Syria, the Islamic Jihad, the interior ministers of Arab countries, the Islamic Conferences - all paragons of tolerance, humanism and democracy.

So, we must apologise to them because the freedom of expression they refuse, day after day, to each of their citizens, faithful or militant, is exercised in a society that is not subject to their iron rule. It's the world upside down. No, we will never apologise for being free to speak, to think and to believe.

Because these self-proclaimed doctors of law have made this a point of principle, we have to be firm. They can claim whatever they like but we have the right to caricature Muhammad, Jesus, Buddha, Yahve and all forms of theism. It's called freedom of expression in a secular country ...

For centuries the Catholic church was little better than this fanaticism. But the French Revolution solved that, rendering to God that which came from him and to Caesar what was due to him.

(A lot of other papers are now printing the images as a protest against censorship and free speech, and they have a point - depicting Mohammed in cartoon form may be against Islam, but the cartoonists and the readers aren't Islamic, so they should get to do what they want.)

just because something is legal, it doesn't mean it can't be immoral

Just because something is deemed immoral by a group or segment of the population, doesn't mean other ppl shouldn't have the right to free speech.

This thread is closed!!!

Billy Ho and Arabic 187 are to blame. This is an adult forum where you discuss items in an adult way. No name calling or racist undertones please. Continue all further discussion on this topic in the other thread as they are the same topic anyway.
