I'm not too upset by the draw.

USA aren't pushover, have beaten Spain and were leading 2-0 against Brazil in the last 12 months. I expected England to win 2-0, but I prefer the draw rather than an England push-over and everyone getting over confident. I am hoping to do an Italy.

As for Lampard. He bossed that midfield for 70 minutes. Great discipline. Great positioning. The USA couldn't find a way through the middle. Heskey was tidy, and done his job well. Should have finished the 1 on 1. But... Heskey is Heskey. Was Crouch any different?!?

Rooney was on the ball for the first 8 mins, and then disappeared. Apparently it was his wedding anniverasary and he was feeling blue. Gerrard had a decent game, nice finish. Johnson was great going forward, but is pretty poor at standing in the right place at corners.

I mantain that England would have won, if the wingers knew where to stand in the box. Too often SWP, Rooney and Heskey were standing next to each other when the cross came in. If J.Cole was on, he'd have been attacking the far post, and I think we'd have had more goals. Still no biggy, as I believe the run to the second round is easy. And I still think we'll beat Australisa, Ghana or Serbia. But Germany will be harder.

I want to thank the Germans for playing great football this first half. It's a breath of fresh air seeing it after the crap matches we've had (for the most part) up to date. lol.

The second decent match I have seen.

BUT...... If Germany are going to play good football. It is not the German way. So I can only forsee failure.

LOL the Australian half time commentary seriously just said "Germany is not one of the great technical teams; they're not Spain or Brazil."

The Germans always do reasonable well reaching at least the quarter finals most of the time, just Like England except Germany look convincing.

Germany have been lovely to watch.

Ozil really has serious potential. he reminds me of Zidane at times but is alot quicker.

and its like as if Podolski and Klose go into hibernation until the World Cup is on again lol

exactly. people are getting carried away.USA are no mugs. but you have to admit the level of performance from England was awful poor.

i dont agree about Lampard though. he was poor but i think that when Barry is fit, they should play Lampard alongside Barry and then push Gerrard up behind Rooney and drop Heskey. Surely Capello will do this.

I believe he will.

I also believe that Lampard is more defensively minded and disciplined than Barry. I don't think Barry is a true holding midfielder. He doesn't sit in front of the defence and stay there. He comes forward quite a bit. I'd prefer him to play like Mascherano and let Lampard take shots from 20 yards.

I want England to peak later on in the tournament. So I am happy for us to scrape the points initially.

^yea Podolski's record is 40 goals in 75 games which is phenomenol considering his club record is quite poor.
He's had a shocking season but he just fits so well into the German team. I think he's going to have a good World Cup. Like I said, Germany is my favorite to win.

Please, USA's performance was mostly due to England being poor, than the USA actually being this Hercules type team. I won't say that the USA is utter shit here cause that would be stupid, but they're just being hyped up a lot more than necessary cause of this match. I'm sure hadn't it been for the Green fuck up, England would have held up their confidence and put a few in (and not directly shooting it at the keeper as they kept doing).
I do like Onyewu and Altidore though, good players.

Also that red is a WTF moment.

Edit: Podolski and Klose are having an immense match. Lahm also, linking things up beautifully; even his defending gets a thumbs up from me lol..

Edit the edit: Mueller goal. He should have gotten it way before, but this will do.
