Btw, they cannot "ban" it, because it has not been legalised in majority of jurisdictions.

I'm for it. Its a human right issue, we live in a free society where every citizen should have the same right as others, where there is a seperation between church and state and where people can choose if they want to get married or not. Some people have the argument of "Well they can have civil union why don't they just take that?", straight couples can also have a civil union, why don't they just do that?

Not allowing gay marriage sets civil rights back 70 years. In the 60s a judge said that God didn't want interracial couples getting married because "God put coloured people on different continent so they wouldn't mix.", the arguments against interracial marriage back then are almost the same as gay marriage today.

Best way to fix the problem is allow it, but also allow religious establishments choose if they would provide the services for gays.

I don't think GOD should enter into this disccusion however.(it is clearly against the way of nature that I agree with.)

I don't really see the big deal on the situation, people say you get Benifits for being married and gay's should not enjoy them. I feel they should as long as they do not come at the expensse of others.

Let gay people do what they want to do. Why is everyone getting all worked over the fact that gay people want to marry each other. If they want to let them, it's not like they're making your life any harder. If they are happy with each other then let it be. It shouldn't be such an issue to people, it's called freedom.

Chris Rock said it best, "Gays have the right to be as miserable as everyone else" haha but seriously my brother is gay and hearing from him the things they cant do as even a couple they dont get the same rights as other straight couples. I think its wrong to discriminate against someone because of their sexuality. And Religon should have nothing to do with this, ofcourse Churches should decide whether they will do marriage ceremonies for gay couples that is their right, but I think there should be a way for Gay people to wed if they choose too.
If marriage is a sacrid institution why we got Who Wants to Marry A Millionaire?
At the end of the day not everyone beleives in Christianity or any religon so if a couple wants to confirm their comitment to each other through marriage who's to say they shouldnt do that? Its nobody else's decision so I say give them the rights everyone else has and lets stop trying to stop the inevitable.

When I saw this thread I was a little worried, based on past threads, but so far everyone besides the topic started at KAMIKAZE seems to be cool on the issue. I usually come into these threads and get really angry at the ignorance of people, but so far so good. I'm sure there'll be a flood of people coming in saying things like

Why not? I mean, I can see why you wouldn't find the image of two men kissing to be particularly pleasant, but they probably don't find the image of a man and a woman kissing particularly pleasant. And I'm sure you don't find the image of two ugly obese people kissing, should they not be allowed to show affection publicly?

since marriage is (also) a religious term and (most? every? dont know..) religions do not allow "gay-arriage" i think it would be good to use a different term for "marriage". but apart form that its definitely ok...
