What ended the crack epidemic?

#1
According to InfoImagination, it went as follows:

Today, we have witnessed a decline in the crack crisis -- due not to our law enforcement efforts, but because of the growing awareness about the extraordinary danger of this drug. We cannot rely on hard working police and law enforcement to stamp out this problem. The solution, the only solution, is through education. Please, spread the message...
The government spent billions on ending this problem. I am leaning towards the possibility that the government ended/lessened the epidemic.

would never have known buy looking at the county that i use to live in (st, clair county illinois) towns like, brooklyn, venice, belleville, washington park, fairmont park, and east st. louis are full of crack. it was easier to buy coke and crack than it was pot.

I swear I saw that coming! I saw your name as being last post here & just knew it.

Anyways, to answer the thread, while it may not be seen as an 'epidemic', as far as I'm aware crack still plagues the streets of America to this day so I think it's a little premature to be asking such a question.

As for the possible decline in crack availability/use, that would be mainly down to the people themselves I think. The fact that the government may actually try & stop crack from getting into the country - as opposed to when they were aiding it's importation - probably also played a part.

meth is the new problem. you can make meth just by purchasing products from walmart. i saw on the local news the other day that the police found a mobile meth lab in a pick up truck. we use to have the all over stlouis. not a day went buy when you didnt hear about a meth lab explosion

yeah no shit, but it did not matter till it made it to the burbs.
Of course because then the government realized they could no longer control it & keep it restricted to minority areas. But it was an epidemic before it hit ther suburbs.

No. The real reason is that the term "crackhead" is used to insult people now. It is not cool to do crack, anymore. As rappers and the powers that be began labeling others as "crackheads", the younger generation realized, "Hey, I don't want to be a crackhead like DMX". :)

*Looks forward to the day when being a pothead is looked down upon*

that day is already here. i know people that dont smoke pot and when they hear me trying to talk about something real, whats going on in the world that they wouldnt know about or just dont care about, or whats going on in our country or city, they just ignore me and say "your a pothead, why would i listen to you" its stupid really. just cause i smoke pot doesnt put me on a lower level than them

We never really had a crack problem because coke/base was just too expensive and hard to get, so here we have a lot more "backyard" drugs.

Meth here has been around for ages. I remember the first time I went to America Sicc and his bro asked me what drugs people do here and when I said meth they bugged out.

Meth here is everyday type shit. I remember going to parties when I was 16 and you had 14-16 year old girls take points of meth to party harder. A friend of mine used to shoot Meth all the time, while most people ate it (he just hated the taste). Pure LSD based Meth was his poison for a long time.

I think now the Meth epedemic here is sort of evening out, it used to be a lot worse but the government would never admit there was a meth problem just like they wont admit Australia has gangs.

Meth leaves you sketchy as fuck and just fucks with your brains. My friend suffers from depression now and has tried commiting suicide several times while coming down. At one point his veins were so clogged that the doctor said that if someone hit him where he shot up it would dislodge all the gunk in there, which would then go into his heart causing it to explode.

I seriously recommend that you all stay away from meth, it just aint worth it.

Meth's pretty terrible here too, Rukas. I believe at one point Arkansas was one of the top 5 states in the US for meth busts; I know for a fact that at one point, the county I live in was the #1 in the state for meth busts.

It's bad stuff..

Are you an executive of a psychic hotline to do that?

Anyway, I heard somewhere that 60% of drug users are from the suburbs. Can anyone verify that?
