Looking on X right now and I think we're seeing the collapse of American society.
lol that’s just Twitter.
Any of you folks espresso experts? Or at least have a machine? My sister has been researching machines since August and I wanted to gift her one for Christmas but I don't know shit without actually asking her and making her aware I'm getting one for her.

I may just ask her but I know some of you buy expensive shit after months of research so I figured I'd ask since I'm ignorant to this stuff.

Why are recommended ones starting at $300? The fuck happened to an $80 Keurig from Costco that came with a sampler pack of K Cups that tasted like ass-water.
I started doing a lot of research on espresso machines and then I kept reading that you had to have an expensive burr grinder or otherwise it’s just a waste, so I just stick to my pour over. The options were too overwhelming. I have a bean grinder but not a fancy one.

I did put a Sumsaty in my cart but I can’t remember why I chose that one. I heard a lot about the casabrews 5418 as a good cheap option when I thought I would buy a whole espresso with bean grinder set up.

Espresso making is almost like the wine field. Asking what’s the best espresso maker is like asking what’s the best red wine. You don’t want to go there, nor can you afford to. There are good budget ones, but if she's been searching for months, it sounds like she's somewhat serious. This is a decent compromise from the very best $1000+ machines: Breville Bambino Plus. About $450+ at Amazon.

I bit the bullet and asked her as she left back for school today. Turns out she did want the Bambino. Is the Plus worth $100 more?

And she mentioned a grinder lol.

Which is OOS.

The regular Bambino is $199, $100 less, at Best Buy with points. Might make getting her a grinder, too, a bit cheaper.

I asked ChatGPT for cheaper alternatives to the grinder I see recommended and they recommended a hand grinder for $50 or something.

lol might as well grow the beans too if you gotta do all that work for some snooty coffee. But yeah, apparently the grinder make a difference and you want a good one.

I think the Plus is worth the extra. As far as grinders, I would get an Encore ESP for about $195. But it's up to you.
Nigga that's the cost of the machine itself!

Eh, it's my sis, I'll do it.

I'll ask if she values the Bambino Plus over the Bambino and then just tell her to pick it up at the Best Buy by her.

lol that’s how I felt. When I finally committed to throwing down a couple hundred for a machine but then realizing the grinder was also a couple hundred I couldn’t justify it. I love coffee but sometimes I’m lazy and my instant coffee hits the spot for weeks at a time.

It is a nice gift though.

Life is but a easy balance work and I love my cup of joe and cigs on a lethally cold midwestern winter morning like today.

I gotta go find a study that says wine is good for my prostate.
