Look, im just stating the truth.As a midfield player he is over-rated.Yea, he does spectacular things at times but i am sick of our over reliance on him.His passing isnt great.He is not composed enough on the ball. His positioning isnt great either.

In fairness Mascherano is good at what he does. I watched him last week in the Villa game and he was probably Liverpool's best player(not that is is hard to be at the moment). He is excellent at winning possession and if we had more creative players in midfield and good wingers we would see his importance more. I just dont agree with an 18 million price tag for this type of player. I say the same about Hargreaves.

Well I think the gap of appreciation between attacking players and defensive players is too large. Sure you're attackers will score you goals and win games but you're defensive players also play a huge role each season. I feel they hardly ever get the accolades or praise they deserve. People want to watch entertaining players and the work defenders do usually goes unnoticed.

Liverpool haven't signed Mascherano permanently. Yet. Rafa has said that a deal could be made in a few days, though.

Liverpool fans seem split down the middle as to whether Mascherano is worth £18m or not. Some were threatening to assassinate the owners if they didn't make the money available, some were saying that he's overrated and the money would be better spent elsewhere.

It might seem ridiculous to spend £18m on players like Mascherano and Hargreaves, but on their day they can be just as important as the Torres's and Ronaldo's. If Hargreaves makes us harder to beat in Europe, he's well worth every penny.
