What? So you think it's right to "protect" the piece of fabric by law?

What exactly would your motivation be behind such reasoning?

no, fuck that, theres no way they should protect it by law. i was talkin about the people who were gonna go burn the flag (especially doing it on the 4th of july)

If you're an American citizen, you should not be burning the flag. Burning the flag should come with the penalty of automatic deportation, even if you've lived in the U.S. your whole life. If you burn the flag you get sent to Cuba...Or Syria. Or North Korea. If that happened all those flag burning shit-heads would come running back to that flag begging to be a U.S. citizen again.

Burning the flag should be legal only when it's wrapped around the person while it's burning.

Ah, i see. I think however, that some of those folks would want to burn it simply because the government is thinking about outlawing it. It's like a statement, not an expression of genuine hate.

The amendment is a waste of time. There are real problems that Congress could deliberate over.

With that said, burning a flag is a total waste of time. It serves no purpose other than to be a cry for attention.

What are you going to accomplish? Are you going to decry the country's pre emptive war doctrine by violently destroying an inanimate object? If you want to criticize the country's actions, there are many more intelligible ways and better forums for doing so.

I think it's ridiculous to prohibit flag burning. What's it going to do? It's not going to stop the evil terrorists.

It's hypocritcal as well. So in the States, i can't burn an American flag, but if i want to torch a Haitian flag, its okay. That's bullshit. If you're going to "protect" one piece of fabric, protect the rest as well.

I'd rather they just fuck off with the bullshit.

I agree completely..if you are going to protect one flag, make the same law for everything.

Personally, I think that new amendments shouldn't be made to overrule our basic rights, such as the case here. Although I don't necessarily think its RIGHT to burn a flag, it is a right and that should be respected.
