It means overnight United have gone from a debt-free clubs into one with debts of 200 million, its incredible we're practically paying so he can become owner!

It might not be the end of the world, more will be clear by the end of next season. He will either strip the clubs wealth and run, or he will invest and get us back to the top. Manchester United is worth alot of money in the long run if we can improve and maintain good champions league finishing positions. Manchester is the Biggest supported club in world football, or do i have to say soccer now?

I dont think the Irish dudes did it out of spite either, you dont get to be billionaire that way, business comes first with them dudes, they made a hell of alot of money out of Manchester United.

wasnt there uproar when glazer took over Tampa bay too? I believe he has done a good job there if the media is right. The club will not be debt free anymore, but neither are madrid or many of the Italian clubs, at the end of the day they still play good football, as a fan thats all i care about.

time will tell anyways...

Invest? He's already in heavy debt, he needs to make money not spend it.

Yes, United generates a lot of wealth. Unfortunately, Glazer will probably want most of it for himself. To make big money we need to win the Premiership and/or the Champion's League. To do that we need to invest in players and hold onto the ones we have. Glazer can't afford to give Fergie the money he needs to seriously invest in the club. Look at what we need: a new first choice keeper, preferably a new centreback, central midfielders to replace Keane and Scholes and at least one more winger so that we can rest/replace Giggs without putting Rooney or Fletch out wide. £20m won't buy us that.

I know nothing about American Football, nor the Glazer takeover of Tampa Bay, but I believe the Bucs have been doing shit recently.

Firstly, I don't know if the takeover put Tampa Bay in debt or not.

Secondly, debt wouldn't have the same effect on an NFL team as it would an EPL team. Like I said, I don't know much about American Football, but it has a draft system which benefits the worst teams by allowing them first pick of players. Or something. By being in debt, Manchester United will have a smaller transfer budget and will not be able to attract big name players to the club. Glazer has pledged £20m, which is peanuts for a club like Manchester United.

^ what you said is completely logical but not the gospel, only time will tell. as they its funny old game. Like i said we will know more by the end of next season. spending mass amounts of money isnt always the answer in football, i mean who won the champions league last year? and how much did they spend. It wouldnt be so bad if the money was spent on good players, rather than chancers. as a fan i am greatful for what fergie has done, but your gonna run out of ideas after 18 years in charge. I guess his hairdryer doesnt work as well these days.

Maybe a new manager and a bit of decent traiding in and out will fix the problem, but who knows for sure.

If ferg's there at the end of next season and Man U win i wonder if somebody would be daring enough to dump a whole bucket of cold gatorade on him, Since i see that in the NFL.

You're definitely right about money not always being the answer, but when you're up against Chelsea you need to be able to compete for the same, big name players. People like Djemba-Djemba, Kleberson and Miller (free, but on £34,000 a week) were a major waste of money. Maybe having less to spend will make Fergie more prudent and ensure he signs players who are good enough to play for United.

I got that figurefrom UnitedRant, but I actually misquoted them.

"Although to be fair Miller is worse than a bag 'o shite isn't he. £38,000 a week he earns. That's more than most United fans earn in a year. It's wrong, just plain wrong."

Miller is far from shit, but he is almost an equal distance away from United class.....well, not these days, but old United class.

And no, you'd be the local kebab shop owner getting 'blown' (aka, the 'hairdrier treatment') by Fergie for indulging the lads' taste buds the night before a match.
