Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz confirmed to the Boston Herald on Thursday that he was hospitalized last weekend for an irregular heartbeat.

Ortiz told the Herald he began experiencing a rapid heartbeat Friday night after the Red Sox were swept by the New York Yankees in a doubleheader at Fenway Park. Although Ortiz played Saturday, the problem persisted and the Red Sox medical staff advised him to visit Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was held overnight for observation.

Ortiz, who is hitting .286 and leads the majors with 46 homers and 120 RBI this season, didn't miss any time during the Yankees series.

my body type is like ortiz's as well...im not ripped, but im big, and that extra weight and upper body strength really helps papi crush balls outta the park....

he doesnt take steroids, i think its obvious....we would have seen a sharp decrease in his numbers this year if he were on steroids....

well, there is no proof....so he has a point....but then again, maybe its cuz no one's suspected him yet....so his image hasnt been slightly tainted like the rest...like bonds, sheff, and giambi

^^Well in that case I guess we must suspect Ryan Howard who's on pace to hit 60 HR. Giambi did take steroids, he pretty much admitted it a couple of years ago in that joke press-conference.
