I was listening to the radio today and they dicussed being politically correct, i found some of the things hard to believe for e.g a 10 year old child came home in tears because he had been sent to the headmaster because he referred to the chalkboard as a blackboard and was called a racist, also there are other things i have noticed such as it is a sackable offence to teach or say the nursery ryhme ba ba black sheep, it should now be ba ba wooly sheep this as well as many other things is really doing my nut my black friends dont mind it, so how did it come to this ? please share your views

And this is doing nothing but causing more racial wars. If things are offensive when they actually exist like your examples there ARE Blackboards there ARE Black Sheep they shouldnt be banned or punished for being used. When people say it more as a statement or phrase its different depending on what is being said. To a certain degree things need to be open and political correctness should be used. At the end of the day people should just use theyre common sense on these things and think.

I think it is out of hand. The way to overcome racism is not to shelter people from the issue of race by trying to dodge it through political correctness. The result will be a society where people are affraid to even admit that there is such a thing as race. I think rather than trying to create a neutral outlook on race we should instead promote race for the unique thing that it is and teach kids to have enough common sense to distinguish it from those derogatory sayings. After all, it's not 'black' or 'white' anything that is the problem but this mentality that they are offensive. Teach people that race isnt about offense but something special to be, I dunno, enjoyed - then we'd be getting somewhere.
