actually looking at it again, it should be a free out to Poland in the first place. the referee is inconsistent here.

Lewandowski does foul but Poland should have a free just before.player falls too easily though. from the other angle it looks as if he is pulled to the ground.

i admit i am wrong on this.Poland are hard done by.

as i said, Webb is technically correct about awarding the penalty(although alot of ref will let it slide) but he should have awarded Poland a free-kick for the foul just beforehand.

Yeah, that is why I am going for Germany.

I always thought Podolski didnt want to play for Poland, the weaker side, but you're saying Poland didnt let him play? Why? Can you explain?
Podolski got our player Tomasz Hajto on his side - they together tried to convince PZPN to let Lukasz play in our team but PZPN were giving them no response - no interest at all. In 2003 he made a special comment in some magazine that he wants to play in Polish national team but got no response too from what I remember. After that German team got interested (he was playing in German league at that time) and gave him a good offer. He said that he's sad that he can't play for Polish team so he will score goals for German account but for Polish heart or something like that. He was 100% Polish at that time and only had German passport and I believe he was also living in Germany at that time. At that time the chief of PZPN sent him a letter with an attidude like: "if you want it so much you can play for us" but it was too late anyway. So in short it's like Flipmo said.

Yeah that's the thing. Was it a penalty? Yeah. Can you give 20 of these a match? Yeah.

So Webb shouldn't have have put that ball on the spot. Not at such a moment.

On different, not entirely unrelated note however, what about indirect free kicks? I almost never see it, while it's such a good means to penalize some minor tugging and pulling without immediately pointing at the 11meter dot.

I know i compared the Lewandowski shirt pulling to Fernando Hierro pulling Niall Quinn's shirt at the 2002 World Cup. In that case Hierro was practically raping Niall Quinn in the box lol.

damn, Ireland really should have won that game.

*cries*

There is a stupid, conservative, polish politician who said Podolski should hand in his polish pass - One day later Podolski said: "Thats funny, i dont even have one"

LOL

Yeah Podolski is not at fault for what happened with the Polish Footy Federation.

Same thing happened with Ibrahimovic. He played one U21 game with Bosnia and the idiots at the FA said "We have busses of Ibrahimovics".

He's just like Podolski though, he wanted to play for his country of origin, but the FA in question were just too corrupt to do anything.

He has stiff competition in the form of Klose and Toni. And even the way he currently played for Germany, leftmid/winger is a position that's pretty much spoken for at Bayern.

But I agree that he's good enough to command a first team start for a big club.

Podolski is far superior to both Klose and Toni in my opinion. If he's one of the best (if not the best) player in German national team how come that he won't make a 1st squad in Bayern?

Did he fall out with Hitzfeld last season?I remember there was talks of him being loaned back to FC Koln.

Podolski was excellent at the last world cup and is having a great euro 2008 so far.

Hoho, wait a minute. As a striker, you need to score. Nobody does it better than Toni (in Germany). Klose is not the best when it comes to scoring itself, but he makes a lot of assists and works more than any other striker in the defense.

And the best German player is obviously Ballack. Thats not even a question.
