I cant find anything on the shoot to kill laws at all, probably because like I said, the new bill is secret. So all I can see is they have been "watered down," but I worry how much you can actually water down a shoot to kill bill. Knee caps first? I dont know, we'll see I guess.
make sure you post the link if you find something.

Howard said the laws needed to be hurried through to help prevent a terrorist attack on Australian soil, the terror alert was upped, Melbourne was said to be a target, the laws were passed because of the urgency, yet a week later, no arrests have been made.

Well one day after Howard was questioned about not making any arrests if he knew there was a "specific" attack, 14 people were arrested last night after home raids at 2AM and one was shot.

All were lebanese. No warrentes were needed anymore.

Police have stated that they were terrorists, but werent planning any specific attacks. Just goes to show the government is trying to keep people affraid.

One man arrested was Abu something (forget his name) who was vocal earlier in the year about supporting Bin Laden.

Once again, lets remember, the police themselves have said they had no evidence that these people were planning an attack anywhere on Australian soil, yet according to them they are still terrorists.

Im not up on the situation in your country so cannot comment too much , but at least something is being done , plus you do not know what is being hidden from the public , there could and most probably be informants whos lives could be in danger if certain things are made public and other areas of terrorism or people could still be under servailence , which could be comprimised by a reveal all type press conference , but its the old case of damned if you do and damned if you dont for the goverments , arrest on suspicion and it turns out nothing , there poor human rights are affected or let it pass and people are blown up and killed and the goverments are slammed for doing nothing , which is worse ?? If im not correct they were watching these guys for months so im sure there was reason to arrest them , so in my opinion they should keep this up . zero tolerance .

Reminds me of the 'War Measure' act that happened here after a couple of FLQ kidnappings and bombings in the 70s.
