It seems the majority has been for it traditionally in the polls. I'm all for making the college game better, I love college basketball. But with guys like Lebron James already in the leauge, let's say he breaks the all time scoring record (I know it's early, but he's got a real chance, youngest to whatever amount of points). If the age limit is implemented, they'll always have those 2 years that they had to miss, and therefore it would be very difficult for that record to ever be touched.

Because of this, I'm against it. Keep everything the way it is so recores aren't tainted.

Your thoughts?

I think you should let them play at any age. If there good enough than they should be allowed to play. Just look at lebron he is already owning people in the nba. If he went to college it wouldn't have done him any good.

the quality of play in the NBA is worsening, meanwhile veterans are getting fucked over by these talentless 18 year olds getting huge contracts

for every 1 lebron james, theres 20 kwame browns

I think it would be a good thing, cause NBA is more then basketball and if you're young, it's hard to handle.

I think there should be a age limit because, if more and more players start not going to college, it takes the purpose away from everything. And I agree with Bank Robber

it should be a age limit so some of these kids can at least get 1 year of college in. if they are that good the NBA will still want them later
So, whats the point of going to college that one year?

^it's different for the NFL though, high school kids do not have the bodies to withstand NFL linebacker punishment and they don't have any real minor league system that I know of. Steroid use would really skyrocket with that, whereas basketball it's not a problem.

There's a thing called education. Also, most high school players miss out on core, fundamental things in basketball that make basketball what it is.

No age limit... if they're capable, no matter the age, then they should have the chance to play.
Ok, I'm tired of posts like this. YOU CAN'T FUCKING KNOW WHETHER THEY'RE CAPABLE OR NOT! My friend has a sports article from back in 1996, I believe, and a sportswriter was going on and on how Kobe was never going to amount to anything and be the biggest bust yet.

Of course "I" personally don't know whether they're capable or not.. however, the player himself and the team he's drafted by know what they're getting themselves into. I mean fuck.. you think an NBA team would waste a draft pick on a player they didn't think was capable of competing day in and day out? Come on now.. gimme a break.

So you're saying that guys like Lebron, Carmelo and Kobe couldn't conduct themselves as professionals in their first and second years in the league? That's bullshit.

And what are you trying to prove with this "article". You just proved my point. The writer claimed Kobe would be a bust, however, he was not a bust and is one of the top players in the league today, REGARDLESS OF WHAT ANY OF YOU SAY.

Anyways.. I don't see why you got all bitter about my post... An opinion is an opinion

Peace

It should be an age limit of 19 or 20, and or 1 or 2 years after High School Graduation. Its simple, theres alot of things that go along with this. One is, They gain fundamentals, another is crappy players dont end up going to the NBA, yet the Good ones still make it, even if a year or two is shaved off their career. Another is you dont have Highschool kids thinking they are going to the NBA and dont even bother thinking about college, you have NBA scouts at highschool games.
As for people like Lebron James, Kevin Garnett, and Kobe Bryant... Well they are exceptions but still, lets see here. Kobe Bryant for example, if he went to Duke for a year or two, he would have been a much much different player, more mature as a person. In college the coaches/college have a huge amount of authority on you and your not quite making millions. It has a drastic effect on the personality of the player, as well as their play.
If a player is too stupid to go through college, or doesnt feel the need for college, then they can chill for a year or two and play in a league type until the NBA decides they are eligable and good enough for draft.
Like someone said also, for every Lebron there are 20 Kwames / Benders etc. And like Sofistik pointed out you cant tell if they are going to be capable or not.
