i know my boxing, and ive argued alot with people about Tyson being among the best of all time...most people have completely forgotten that he was impossible to stop. they dont remember his fights, his ferocity, what he did to other "world class" opponents (the only one anyone remembers is the destruction of Frank Bruno)...

Tyson was easily in the top 10, to my mind the top 3 if not THE best.

*waits for everyone to say Ali was the best, Tyson couldnt do anything against a realy boxer blah blah blah*....i'll go into it another time maybe...

peace
maybe at one point, but i think that his more recent years undermind this

anyway, tyson never actually planned on winnning this. he just wanted to get his money and get out. he doesn't care about boxing.

most people have completely forgotten that he was impossible to stop.

What do you mean he was impossible to stop  he was stopped in his prime  if you mean it was hard to keep him of you then yeah but obviously not impossible as was proven.

Tyson was only 29 when holyfield whipped him twice if as you say he is the best heavyweight how did that come about? if holyfield fought tyson in at any stage in there career's he would have beaten him.

i think it has a lot to do with the training he's been going through as well..

jeff fenech doesn't have much training experience... tyson chose this guy to be his trainer after freddie roach? since when does mike tyson have a jab? what happened to the combinations? atleast when roach trained tyson - tyson showed fierce combinations and worked some different angles. roach was experimenting with tyson. fenech didn't do a damn thing with him and i think frustrated the fuck out of him. tyson wasn't washed up when he fought danny williams. he looked good and got unlucky when he blew out his knee. i still don't think he's fully washed up. i think it may have something to do with his training. i'm not trying to make excuses for tyson, but as a thorough analyst of the sport - i'd say that he wasn't properly prepared for this fight. tyson said he hadn't reviewed much of kevin mcbride's work.

tyson didn't watch many mcbride tapes. he didn't study him enough to know his strong points and his weaknesses. i don't think tyson's trainer did much research either. maybe this delves into more of what tyson was talking about - how he doesn't have the passion anymore and he doesn't have the determination. i think tyson's skill has diminished, but it isn't completely drained. with the proper training and decent mental stability, i think tyson can still be a major force in boxing. but then again.. thats just me.

Fuck this Mike Tyson shit. The real fight tonight was in Madison Square Garden. Miguel Cotto stopped former Olympian Gold Medalist Mohammed Avdullaev in the 9th round. Now that was a fight.:
Man did you see the size of cotto compared to Abdullaeve? the dude was twice his size, Cotto is a bitch, he makes official weight the night before the fight than goes and packs on another 15-20 lbs for fight night to outweigh and outpower his opponents.

same shit he did against Corely, he weighed in 139 the day before the fight, then in less than 24 hours just before the fight he weighed in at 158 and Corely still almost knocked the guy down, i've lost repsect for the cotto for not only doing it once but a few times now, he easily outweighed abdullaeve by atleast 15 lbs that night, no wonder he came out on top. the fight was as if a junior welter weight boxing a middleweight, this should not be allowed!

I'm not a boxing fan, but I am a Tyson fan. Its a shame where his career headed. Sure he aint the same as before but back in the day, 'when Tyson steps in the ring, he knocks mother fuckers out'. Thats what I'll remember.

I used to have this video where they show all his knockouts with 'another one bites the dust' by Queen been used as the theme song. Thats was awesome seen guys get knocked out like that, song just amps you as well.

Mike Tyson says he will quit the ring for good after retiring on his stool before the seventh round of his latest comeback attempt against unknown Irishman Kevin McBride.
Tyson, not seen since his shock loss to Britain's Danny Williams 12 months ago, was expected to dismiss McBride in the early rounds as he embarked on another road to the heavyweight title.

But the former champion tired visibly after a bright start and resorted to head-butting his opponent in the sixth round before being bundled to the canvas, after which he staggered to his stool where the cornermen pulled him out.

"I can't do this anymore," said the dejected 38-year-old. "I can't lie to myself. I'm not going to embarrass the sport.

"I just don't have it in me. I'm just finished with this. I'm no good anymore. I don't think I have the stomach for this anymore. I don't have anything to fight for."

Tyson started cautiously while McBride was equally tentative, keen to keep his opponent at the end of his long jab.

Tyson was warned for low blows in the second as he went for the body, but a left hook snapped McBride's head back midway through the third round as Tyson found his range.

McBride, the tallest and heaviest opponent Tyson has fought, spoilt the former champion's work by clinching whenever he could, and by the fifth round his size was beginning to tell as he pinned Tyson on the ropes with hard inside shots.

In the sixth Tyson was becoming desperate, appearing to try snap McBride's arm coming out of a clinch before being deducted two points for an intentional head-butt.

But the Irishman wasn't fazed and shoved the exhausted Tyson to the ground seconds before referee Joe Cortez announced the end of the fight.

"I didn't want to get up. I was tired," Tyson said. "It wasn't in my heart. I was doing it, but I didn't want to go forward. I just didn't have the desire to continue fighting.

"I felt like I was 120 years old. I feel like Rip Van Winkle right now."

Although Tyson picked up a remarkable $5 million for the fight (McBride earned just $150,000), he remains deeply indebted to the Federal Government and must now face life away from the ring

This was on the sky sports website.

i have to say i was shocked when i read this, i thought he would always win as he is rock!!!
