I'm not a big boxing fan, but i've always caught the big matches over the years. I've always followed Mike Tyson as well. I didn't get to see him fight tonite, but it wasn't worth it anyway. He QUIT in round 6th. Just quit, sitting on the bench. Imagine that shit? He goes from the most feared boxer to a fucking bitch.

There's no way he can be looked at as one of the best boxers anymore. Not up there with some of the best. I wouldn't say he is a full level down, but he's definitely not up there anymore. He lost 3 out of his last 4 fights. That makes him 50-6. At one time he was 50-3 and he only had losses against champion calibur fighters. Those being Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis. Some boxers have a rocky end in their career, but come on Mike.

What you guys think?

This shit don't faze his standing on all time list, he is doing it for the money. in his time he was still amazing.

simular to Jordan, just cause he played at 40 for the wizards dose not mean he is not the GOAT at b ball!

Fuck this Mike Tyson shit. The real fight tonight was in Madison Square Garden. Miguel Cotto stopped former Olympian Gold Medalist Mohammed Avdullaev in the 9th round. Now that was a fight.

Bring on Ricky Hatton vs Miguel Cotto. :thumb:

Linx, thanks a lot for upsetting me. I've had such admiration of Mike Tyson, and you've just told me he quit. I don't know what to think now...is he just too old to fight? He said he was going to beat the crap out of the guy, and he's the one who quit.

I've always like Tyson because he's like the guy who could beat everyone up. He was promising to become something big...something real big, but then his character got in the way.

I said last night i thought tyson would win another world title i was wrong! tyson's style aint a style that last's very long, he's been finished since about 96, some might say it was before that but he was still a good fighter when he fought holyfield.

50-6 is still a good career it's just that he lost to a couple of bum's! he alway's had problem's with tall boxer's even in the eightie's.

I see a wrestling career on the horizon.

Tyson is still a decent boxer, and competes earlier, but his stamina sucks in the later rounds.. ah well, he's deffinatly a top10 boxer all time, I just wish he would of fought some better opponents.

he should have one last fight(since he said that was his final match)

mike tyson vs. muhammed ali

everybody and their mama would want to watch it. each seat would cost a mill. he'd make over 100 mill, pay off his debt and still be rich

Man, the day that is set up is the day I launch a terrorist attack on whoever sanctions it. It's never happening. A frail, disease-ridden old man against an over-the-hill animalistic fighter?

No boxing organisation with any clout would - nor could, from a business/moral/credibility point - sanction such a fight.

That would be one of the gravest days entertainment has ever seen. And nobody would pay a million for a seat. The people who could afford that are mainly celebrity/sports stars & business man & guess what? If any of them bought a seat to watch that their career/business would take a serious blow, if it not a fatal one.

Damn bigmack, you're supposed to be a businessman. You know there is no way in hell that this is a viable venture.

There is no fucking way tyson is a top 10 fighter of all time! no chance.

Yeah, true. If the criteria was box office draw or boxing 'characters' then yeah for sure, but in terms of actual skill? No. Even his ferocity would be futile against a truly skilled boxer who had watched a couple of his fights.

so who is? (oh, and i was talking about the top10 heavyweights)[/Q

Ali, holyfield, foreman, louis, lewis, holmes, frazier, johnson, walcott, some might say marciano, dempsey, tunney i dont, and a lot of other fighter's over the year's would have caused tyson big problem's.

i know my boxing, and ive argued alot with people about Tyson being among the best of all time...most people have completely forgotten that he was impossible to stop. they dont remember his fights, his ferocity, what he did to other "world class" opponents (the only one anyone remembers is the destruction of Frank Bruno)...

Tyson was easily in the top 10, to my mind the top 3 if not THE best.

*waits for everyone to say Ali was the best, Tyson couldnt do anything against a realy boxer blah blah blah*....i'll go into it another time maybe...

peace

Na i remember them all, the heavyweight division in the eighties was dire.

How can tyson be the best  he was'nt even the best of his era.
