Certain players favoured over others.e.g Barcelona and Real Madrid players ger picked over Betis,Sevilla players. Not politics as in political views etc.Its an expression we use to describe when a player who should clearly make the team doesnt because the manager might like another player. You know what i mean.?

Although he is a good player, Spains midfield is pretty hard to get into with the likes of:

Xavi
Iniesta
Fabregas
Xabi Alonso
Joaquin
Vicente
Reyes

I'd play 2 wingers, but Spain seem to just play the 4 centre midfield players.

I think the sole reason for Spain never winning anything is politics. They don't play for each other as patriots of one nation. The Madrid born players are more favoured than Catalans by the fans, and the Catalunian people actually don't support the national team, they oppose them. I think if the team bond, the tactics and the attitude was right, Spain would be as successful as Italy or Germany have been. As for now, it is very hard to pick a Spain starting eleven, because like England, they have multitudes of talent, but every great player seems to play the same position! no balance. Very hard to keep team morale up when you have world class players sitting out. It's tough.
