Wouldnt of happened if it was a MacBook ;)

Im just saying...
Completely untrue. Coincidentally, my friend who is a graphic designer, his power supply on his Macbook died last week. And guess what happened - it fucked something up internally and fried his harddrive.

My harddrive is fine :)

Anyway, my laptop is running fine now.

Since logically it had to have been the battery, I bought another power supply, took the battery out, and am running it off mains only - and it works perfectly. So my cousin was right.

Now I'm about to phone the manufacturer to get another battery.

No big deal in the end.

^ Maybe, but if it happens on the Macbook I can take it into an Apple store and just get it swapped out or replaced :).

On a side note, my blackberry is officially dead, wouldnt have happened if it was an android phone (or iPhone for that matter, the damn trackball stopped working all together). Off to optus now to see about recontracting early for the Backflip. Keep your fingers crossed!

^When did u get your BB?

Mine works just like new, maybe even faster.

Had it since a week before my birthday as a gift. 8/10ish.

EDIT: Casey, glad you got your laptop working. :D

rukas, you'll be lucky if you do get the upgrade - unless it works differently in aus, or if you have come to a certain point in the length of your contract.
the backflip is a good option.

also, do you have the xperia available. i played around on my cousin's one - its a good phone, but the desire is better and cheaper. unless you really do want one with keyboard...

just got a phone call off my friend today and the circuit on the laptop was F'd. it sent the electric current back down to the ac adapter and couldve caused it to blow because the circuit was not complete.

he says it better to sell it as spares and repairs than to get it repaired. im so mad right now, because i dont have a computer at home, uni fees just went out, need to be saving money not spending.

looking at getting my desktop rebuilt now. at least he managed to back up all my pics, music, videos. - £25, not bad. wouldve been £15 if i was existing customer. he runs a business amanscomputerservices.co.uk.

check recommended pc specs thread for what im hoping to get.

Laptop reliability tests:
edit: I removed the first test which was performed for Asus.

Office use after a 3-year period (here smaller = better):

A different test:

PS. I'll gladly see a price/quality chart some day :moody:

thanks for that masta. im considering also getting a netbook. asus, samsung, acer or a chrome os netbook are my options.

what would be best to do? ive got android phones which allow tethering and so i dont really need to buy another mobile broadband service - but then again, if i do, i should get the netbook at a subsidized price.
if i get the mobile broadband, then i dont have to waste phone battery or data usage on the netbook use, instead i can reserve it specifically for the phone. that's what i'll do (if i get a netbook).

or would it be possible to sell the mobile broadband on? thing is, it'll be in my name... :\
