Is there "thing" faster then speed of light?

Yes, it's possible. Quantum particles travel faster than light because when they "tunnel" through a barrier, it takes place faster than light. And it's been measured. Plus, quantum particles are able to communicate with each other instantaneously over distances.

According to the special theory of relativity, you can't start out with a speed less than that of light and go faster and faster until you pass the barrier because time stands still at the speed of light itself, while length contracts to nothing. But it's only the actual speed of light itself that marks this forbidden territory. If something existed that always traveled faster than light relative to us, it would travel backward in time.

There are, in fact, solutions to the equations of the special theory corresponding to particles which always travel faster than light. They have been called tachyons. Though still hypothetical and embarrassing to most physicists, they are not ruled out by the special theory.

Very interesting :).

About Quantum particles, what are they?

Also you said that; <If something existed that always traveled faster than light relative to us, it would travel backward in time.> Doesn't that meant that Quantum particles travel backwards in time then?

This however I don't understand much; " But it's only the actual speed of light itself that marks this forbidden territory." Can you explain further cuz it's really interesting! :)

Dont fuck with quantum physics. Even einstein fucked up with that shit and had to retract years of work. :p

It's a very complicated subject. It would take a book to adequately cover it and I don't feel like writing a book today. Anyway, you would really need to know the math to understand it.

Here: E = m*[1-(v/c)2]-1/2 and E2 - p2 = m2 < 0. Or, p2 - E2 = M2, where M is real. This is a hyperbola with branches in the spacelike region of spacetime.

(BOX + m2)phi = 0

where BOX is the D'Alembertian, which in 3+1 dimensions is just

BOX = (d/dt)2 - (d/dx)2 - (d/dy)2 - (d/dz)2.

The difference with tachyons is that m2 is negative, and m is imaginary.

To simplify the math a bit, let's work in 1+1 dimensions, with co-ordinates x and t, so that

BOX = (d/dt)2 - (d/dx)2

phi(t,x) = exp(-iEt + ipx)

Get it? Good.

Seriously, just look it up on the net. There's many sites that talk about faster-than-light travel. Sure, i can explain it better than most of these sites and i know stuff that's not on them, but for your needs and level of understanding, they'll do just fine.

thats some crazy stuff.black holes. when you look at it, its a hole......but if you're behind it wouldn't it look like a hole then too.so then wouldn't it have to be a 3-d hole? which doesn't make sense if you can fall into the hole from any direction

theory of reaching another dimension, if you assume that the world is comprised of parallel universe, then a black whole, or a worm whole can be like a gateway to another space time continuum located parralel to ours
(reminds me of "Sliders")

Another theory assumes that the space time is bent and the worm whole will be a gateway to another location of the same universe, or the same space time continuum (ie another time, another physical location, but the same universe)

If u believe in what Einstein said, then there is no faster thing then light - but who knows what mankind will find in 100 years? .... well. for now, no. we don't know anything faster then light.

Einstein said that nothing can accelerate to the spead of light because it will need an infinite amount of energy, but if something in its natural state is going at or faster than this speed, Einstein's theory couldn't prove it's impossible

the force of gravity has been proven to be at least 7 times the speed of light, Einstein's theory of bent space actually explains this phenomenon
