Indonesia wants US troops out by March

They're anxious to get back to their civil war. Because how can they beat the crap out of the rebels in Aceh with the USMC there?

Indonesia has officially stated--per news reports--that they worry that the rebels in Aceh will somehow use our efforts to their advantage. It should be noted that these rebels are, themselves, aiding in relief efforts.

We'd be out by March, anyway. Frankly, I think we should have all our people and equipment out of country by Monday. And if they are any more ungracious then we bill them for what we've done so far. You don't get to accept free help and then dictate when/where/how we help you.

We've spent many dollars there, therefore we should be allowed to stay there as long as we want. The U.S. flag should fly over all official buildings. We should start immediately building bases and PXs. Their women should be considered our concubines and the common people should stand in line for hours for the honor of kissing the soldiers' boots. :thumb:

I feel what you're saying about an air of ungraciousness but, in the end it's their country & if they want foreigners to leave, then foreigners should leave.

Also, nice correction Glockmatic. America is severely paranoid & need to have their propaganda highlighted by those of sane mind.

Oh, I knew they said all foreign troops out, but I interpreted that to be a not-so-subtle message to the US, since we have the most troops there, and we are seen as the Great Enemy to those folks.

My point was that this is so obviously a relief effort and not an attempt to establish bases there or interfere in any way with the government, that those remarks were un-called for.

My point about American paranoia seems to have been on point.

And if you feel that America was the focal point of Indonesia's request, well I can't say I blame them. America has a history of taking things that don't belong to them & saying one thing while doing another.

Then it's not American paranoia to have taken that as a hint (or a jab) to the US. ;)

"Foreign troops are no longer needed in Aceh" he said. "Because how can we beat the crap out of the rebels in Aceh with foreign troops there?"

"The vice president said Aceh in the near future would need foreign medical workers and engineers"

I think we can have all the dirt roads and grass huts rebuilt by March.

Please explain how you have deducted this?
If the US is seen as taking things that don't belong to them by the Muslim world (among others), then it's not paranoia to see the Indonesian remarks as being meant for the US, and of being paranoid in itself, since our presence is obviously about relief.

And the relief would be done by March. There are troops from a number of countries there and reconstruction and aid distrubution is going well, why keep them there longer? Indonesia has its own army, billions of dollars from aid and debt relief. Engineers and other aid workers would be more helpful when everything is cleaned up then soldiers.

I was stating my personal opinion, in the event that, you were right & Indonesia's request was mainly aimed at America. I don't speak for Indonesia though.

Thats bullshit, America spent millions of dollars to help Indonesia out of its so called goodwill. You didn't spend millions to build bases did You. If that is the View of Americans than they are sad selifish country. Your thoughts and plans should be on helping the needy, not building bases. Also reffering to your comment on kissing the soldiers boots, that shows how much of a sad individual you are. You help people out of the kindness of your heart, not for them to show u respect and "kiss your boots". That was a bullshit comment to make and it just shows what type of person you are

I agree. Like I said, the military would have been out by March anyway, and so, there was no need for them to give a deadline.

lol @ indonesia. they wern't saying this when our soldiers were over there helping them reconstruct all the damage. Maybe Indonesia wants to go slaughter more east timorians again. Our government is so stupid in helping this country, why do we give them money and aid and help? when they are ungreatfull.

tupacmansion, It’s not what I think we should do. It was a parody of what the Indonesians must be thinking the US wants to do if they don’t set a deadline for us. That was so obviously wrong that everyone in here would be attacking me if they thought I meant it.

Now attack groobz, he means it.
