If You Could Change One Event From One Day

#1
what would it be?

I was bored at work (what else is new) and got to thinking about it. After thinking about it for awhile, I still couldn't come up with a definitive answer, although I could guess that plenty of people in the Life section would change a certain something on September 7, 1996.

I'd also assume most Americans would change 9/11, at least to the extent that the country would recognize the nature of the threat without having to endure the attack to understand it (when I told people that morning that I was sure it was the work of Bin Laden, most of them had no idea who Bin Laden was).

I would like to entertain this idea further but I believe there's no point in discussing the impossible. Everything that happened the way it happened, was suppose to happen the way it happened or WE would not have happened the way we happened

I would like to eat a pizza I didn't finish 2 weeks ago :(

On a more serious note, this is what I would like to change, as in what can affect me peronally; I would like to move to another place then I lived in when I got here in Sweden. The reason of that is that I would've discovered my brother earlier so that's that :D.

For the world I wouldn't like to change anything cause I believe that these things had/have to happen for us to evolve further. What I mean by that is that we get more aware of things outside of our lives that we first didn't even think about. Kinda hard to explain but I just feel that we should let everything occur to have a will to go to the root of the problem. For instance, what if the terror-attack on USA never happened? The hate against USA in Middle-east would only grow (not that it isn't growing but now, at least people KNOW, what they chose to do is something different, feel me?)and God knows what it would lead to, perhaps as bad as a third world war etc.

My thoughts are in line with Tru Principle and RFTP - that the way things ultimately happen for a purpose (but I'd distinguish that from any talk of destiny), whether it is simply so that we could gain knowledge or move forward in society, whatever - I wouldnt want to change history as we know it. Nevertheless, it is an interesting question. I'm trying to think of something... anything, but even as horrific and devastating as some events have been, they have their place. The bad helps define us as much as the good.

I'd definatley make sure that I'd never get born alive. Worldwide, I'd somehow go back and shoot Hitler before he had a chance to do his thing.

The world war 2 is deeper then Hitler only. As we recall, the WW1 was a result of hate that had been around for decades. We only needed one reason to spark the war. Same could be said about WW2 that was still unfinished. Alot of historians claim that there really was only WW1 but it had a pause. Anyway, skipping this bullshit. I'll let you play with this thought. What if you did what you want. Wouldn't that only POSTPONE the war? Cause as i mentioned there was hate all over europe at that time. Hitler only took it to his use. The outcome would be that we'd have a 2nd world war aout 1980s where the military techniques were far more deadlier then back in 1930-45. This is my idea...

I think World War 2 had to happen. Where would we be without the technological advancement during and after the war? New medical procedures would have been delayed for a few more decades, the great depression would've lasted longer, and Africa would probably be still colonized until the 80s. It was a tragic war, but without it we would be in a totally different (and pretty harsh) place now.

RFTP, well maybe WWII would have happend anyway but who actually knows? Noone, so there is a certain chance that it would prevent world war two to happen - plus there'd even a higher chance that things like the gas chambers wouldn't have happend cause it was Hitler's and his Nazi friends ideas. Of course I can't say it would have prevented it but since there is a certain chance, I would give it a try.

I disagree with that notion. There are plenty of things that did not have to happen that would not otherwise have changed the grand scheme of things, like Aaliyah's plane crash for example.

If somebody goes out and kills Brett Favre tomorrow, I wouldn't suddenly have a new outlook or greater understanding of anything.

I certainly would. I think a lot of things would become clearer to me.
