Technology I wanna build my own PC

#1
I've recentley been messing around inside my pc , upgrading RAM, replacing Video Card, etc and i think i can do it. Originally i wanted 2 just mod the hell out of it, but i figure......why not take it a step further and just build my own. So my question is, what are my essentials??

Motherboard
Video Card
RAM
Hard Drive
Cooling system.
Processor

is that pretty much it??

another question.......as i was checking out cooling systems/fans for the pc, i read some reviews and they would be like.........yea, it's only blowing out 70 degree air instead of 120 degree air like before with the old fan. or whatever, so my questions is..........how do you find out the air temperature your pc is spewing out?? do you really just hold a thermometer back there??

Take a leaf outta my book, don't put your motherboard on the carpet, the static charge fucks it up. It's not too hard to put your own computer together.

i have a pretty good idea of where 2 put everything and most connections....so uhm, does anybody think or recommend any special tools? for example, i think i would need some needle nose plyers........something else that i see being sold alot is "computer glue" uhm...is this really for repairs or am i supposed 2 use it 4 something else...like gluing the motherboard down or something.

also, is there any welding involved?

all you need is a screw driver. no need for glue or plyers or anything like that man.

the motherboard is put on with screws not glue

no welding involved lol, or soldering either.

If you want some deals try www.newegg.com or www.ebay.com. Most stores screw you. Also, www.sharkyforums.com if you have any questions. I'll reply. ;)

thanks guy, you've all been a great help. So i decided 2 slowly buy the parts and the first 2 i was going 2 get was the case and a hard drive and maybe a psu. As i was reading the reviews 4 the hard drives, i noticed people talking about the Speed's or rather the RPM's. Why is the RPM so important? i'm not really sure i understand.

The hard drives's RPM stands for Revolutions Per Minute. Pretty much, the higher the RPM, the more it spins, meaning it reads information faster.
