Not true, my cousin plays for the Chicago Blackhawks and we've talked to him many times, he ses that every player hes talked to jus wanted hockey back, salary cap or not. he sed even if they wernt makin money they wudda played. Notice how u only herd one person say that ^^^. The majority of NHL players wanted it to cum back. Although the strike has fucked up many things in the NHL now, alot of the new rules r fucked up, but who cares, im finally gunna get to see my cousin playin in the NHL, and mabe in a few years ill be playin gainst him, or wit him who noes.
Who's your cousin?

I may have only quoted one player, but believe me, there were plenty more. When the lock out first started, I never heard any players saying they would play for nothing, or that money didn't matter, all I heard was them complaining about a cap, how they didn't want a cap, that they wouldn't take a pay cut. Of course now they are saying something different, since they haven't gotten a paycheck all year. Like I said, I'm sure there were players like your cousin (Who, by the way?) who didn't care about a cap and just wanted to play, but if the majority had gone to Goodenow and said they would take a salary cap, there would have been no strike. And don't get me wrong, I'm not only blaming the players. How do you think the salaries got so high in the first place? The owners were throwing money around like idiots, and then THEY complain about salaries getting too high. Well who was paying those ridiculous salaries? And then you turn around and blame the players. Fucking idiots.

I can see how many players are pissed about this cap. It's the biggest pay-cut a players union has ever taken in the history of profesional sports.

Well they had to do something, the NHL was losing a ton of money, something like $300M over the past 2 years and spending was out of control. The players didn't seem to get that. They look at what athletes in other sports are making, and assume that they should be paid that much. Well if the NHL made billions of dollars a year like the NFL it would be possible, but as it is now, the NHL just isn't popular enough in America to generate that kind of income and Canada is too small a market. I don't know why the players can't understand that.

LMAO at the player saying he cant support his family. Now thats fucked up

But I guess some players are fuckin greedy like you said Devious187. But some just want to play.

Yeah, but you can imagine the lifestyle change that comes with a 30% pay cut from your salary...and yeah I agree a change was necesary. There was no way the league could continue to function paying those huge salaries. I'm glad the way things turned out.

^ Actually, you can't say he plays for them.. he was drafted by the Blackhawks in 2002, but hasn't played a game. And with the rebuilding process going on in Chicago, hopefully this year he'll get called up and will have a chance to play.

^^^ tru, but my uncle has been sayin hes goin to get sined rite away, and if weve been followin everything bout him, and everyone love him, the coach, GM, everyone. They've been sayin of all the young players from Norfolk, hes the most likely to move up. And a lil while they wer asked bout ther defence if thers a NHL this year, and he was also mentioned in ther, so its very likely to move up this year.

Wasn't the NHL having financial difficulties? If not this can be the blow thats hurts the NHL even more. I know the hard core NHL fans will be there but what about the casual fans? Why should we care?
Thats why they're tweaking the game a little bit, to appeal to the casual or non-fan. They're trying to open up the game a little bit, to make the game more exciting and get more goal scoring in order to get some buzz and get some new fans.

That is bullshit, the only reason why they are doing all those changes to the game is to attract the American at the arena or to watch hockey at tv, something that less than 1% of the United States does during the Stanley Cup this is ridiculous. Why care about fans in Carolina, Anaheim and Columbus? Why not move them in real hockey markets where hockey really belongs in cities like Quebec and Winnipeg. The passion in Canada can be comparated to football in the United States. We love the game like that in Canada why change it for Americans that don't want to live the passion of that sport, but i'm in favor of the shootout this was ridiculous all the tie games.

Its true that we care more bout hockey, but we jus cant afford it. Winnipeg was lookin into gettin the Jets back last year, and we hav a new arena that is top notch. But we jus cudnt afford it back then. But now with the salary cap, places like Winnipeg hav hope to make it back in the NHL

thats the whole point. the NHL was losing money,so they needed to restructure. the lockout happened because no deal was made when the season began,so it was cancelled. Now that theres a deal, everything is back on track.

the casual fan shouldnt and doesnt care. In canada everyone's a fan though,I know it's different in the states. But for Canada, hockey is the national sport. During the playoffs, the whole city was partying. When there was a game, you wouldnt even see a car on the road, no lie, ask anyone from here.
