That jersey is class.

On a side note, apparently it's going to be public on Thursday, but Laurent Blanc will be France's manager after the World Cup.

At least that's what LeParisien is reporting.

why the fuck do they need both Ukraine and Poland to hold it? Either of those countries should be able to do it themselves.

I was thinking back to the Euro 2000 qualifiers last night. i just remember that we were in the same group as Yugoslavia and Croatia. we played very well if i recall correctly but finished second then lost to Turkey on away goals in the play offs.

Yeah. It was very tight at the top. All we had to do was beat Yugoslavia, but it finished in a draw; 2-2, I believe.

It's okay though, the Dutch embarrassed the Serbs after :)

I think the reason why Poland or Ukraine didn't get the lone bid was because for the most part their stadiums are crap. They have maybe only 3 or 4 that are up to par with UEFA regulations, also other infrastructure issues; Ukraine especially have been having trouble with that. Poland on the other hand are doing well.

I cant really remember the Ireland games that well but i think we fucked up by conceding a late goal in one of the games against either yourselves or Yugoslavia.

we were robbed in that play off against Turkey as well. very bad refereeing in the away leg.

just noticed that Macedonia were in that group as well.

now i remember. we beat Croatia 2-0 in Dublin lol. Soldo got sent off i think. I think it was the other match against Croatia where we conceded the late goal and lost 1-0.

We only drew the last game against Macedonia. if we won we would have won the group. fuck. lol

that was in the last minute right?

we have conceded so many late goals in qualifying tournaments that have cost us qualification. Take our games against Israel in the 2006 WC qualifiers. we conceded a last minute equaliser in both those games. both games we were the better team. If we had managed to hold out for a win in one of those games we'd have won the group.

Yeah, it was 1 minute before the final. lol. We didn't expect to score, good on Suker for controlling that ball. Hope he becomes our new FA President.

Ireland had a good team that year I recall. I don't remember the playoff match against Turkey though, surprised that you guys lost.

You guys have a good group for Euro 2012, I think you guys will make it out.

^^Turkey had a very good side back then though.

A lot of players like Emre, Hakan Suker, Umit Davala, Hasan Sas, Okan Buruk etc started to make a name for themselves around that time and they went on to finish 3rd at the 2002 WC.

^haha nah, I sort of support Turkey due to my best friend being Turkish, so I've got used to all the players and teams.

Though I do actually quite like Ireland. I remember when Clinton Morrison used to play for them and he scored a few goals.
