- Do Youth Have Any Morals? -

#23
^No, provided it was given consent. (Of course, if one did point out that it was 'immoral' from a religious perspective it must be remembered that it is not significant for any argument for 'moral decline' as it has been happening for some time.)

The conservatism in this post strikes me. Whose morals would we be talking about? It seems to me a very Judeo-Christian streak underlying the topic and I think the current morals should be greatly questioned. What we know as 'morality' relies on some antiquated common-sense that is based on shaky propositions and is most probably not adhered to by the majority of people if they perceive an ability for others not to notice.

This whole topic is a great way to strike some conservative fear in folks', and it isn't a new thing; this happens every generation and it is almost not even worth bothering about when you look at the big picture.

The youth don't have time for morals, it only hinders their youth. Youth may have morals of any kind. They just don't show it because it can get in the way. What they may be doing that's not moral may not even be immoral to them, it may be nothing but fun. So, it's not that youth don't have morals, they just don't use them.

Something I just thought about.

So, what exactly are you saying?

you only hear about the stuff thats not moral. No one gives a shit if you donated 50 cans of soup to the poor. Theyd rather hear about a kid that kicks in a classroom door and mows down 20 people for being cooler then him...

I believe thats just the youth.

Older people, when we was young, thought exactly the same about us. When our parents where young, older people where after them for doing drugs, playing rock, and acting wild. Today you can replace rock with rap, and you have a quite similar youth.

Everybody says that when they where younger everything was so peacefully and great, then when they get older and more experienced they see the youth in another perspective. When i was young i didnt have the same outlook on life that i have today, therefore my childhood stands out as more peacefully, simply because i was free of responsibilities, and wasnt that experienced/informed.

By the way, how do people define the youth?? i find myself quite young, and im at the same age as most of the posters in here. Is it the teenagers or young people as in "Us" that "we" are criticizing?

exactly, somethings we do that past generations didnt. And vice versa, my grandpa's got crazy stories from his day...

Why can't you just speak properly?

'perceive an ability for others not to notice?
I don't know how else to say it? But you are right (if you mean that I am difficult to understand), I just have difficulty trying to say things in an understandable way.

well....... basically... i gotta say in general u get the select group of youth that couldnt give a fuck about manners or morals at all... they wouldnt hold a door open if it was for a disabled person or an old person but as long as they get thru it thats all that matters 2 em...

however, u cant class it as "YOUTH" if its a select few... im 18, i guess thats still youth??? and i was raised on manners and good morals and if i stepped outta place as a youngsta i was put back in place...

just the other day im helpin ppl out because they didnt know what to do, didnt know the area or didnt have the ability to do something themselves... however, i think about help... and alot of the time i need help in life with situations and it seems no one could give a fuck???

so i see it in one way... you help people out, you have manners... you do good... you learn from them, you learn from their experiences and better yourself... this makes you more able to overcome your own problems...

I dont think that morals have changed at all. I think that what society deems as acceptable has changed for the worse. We are all moral beings we were made that way. Every man woman and child is born with a conscience to know right from wrong. I read somewhere that you can go to the rainforest, to tribes that live isolated from everyone, have the same morals as us. They know it is wrong to steal, lie, kill, commit adultry, ect. Morality is ingrained in us, people just push the conscience to the back of their minds, so it doesnt interfere with what people feel like doing.
