Technology Computer help please?

#23
Ok well lets start from the beginning.

1. What type of computer do you have? Dell? Compaq? and what is in it hd size, RAM, etc..
2. Before this fubar did you install a hard drive? operating system? uninstall/install something?
3. So the win xp cd did not work? I am almost positive that it will work if you have the actual cd.
3. Pop in the bootdisk that you created and when it prompts type in "fdisk" or "fdisk /mbr" (without the parenthesis)
4. If none of these work it can also be a faulty hard drive unless you really need the files you had on your computer I would format the hard drive and reinstall with your windows cd installation disk.
5. Lastly google is your friend, use it.

Do me a favor when you reboot your computer press and hold control+alt+delete. See if anything happens

Select 3 "bootable partition" then select 1 for the C drive not 2. If nothing is happening like you said selete 3 "bootable partition" then select 2.

Then your last option is number 4. BUT I can't guarantee nothing here because I don't know if it will rewrite some important files which may or may not work. So you can lose your data keep that in mine.

I would still find someone who has the windows xp installation cd and recover your system from there. If you do have it restart pop the cd in and hold the "c" button.

I've also included a utility called setuphd.bat which makes your C: drive
on bootup see your IDE CDrom Drive. The utility copies the dos utilites to
C:\utils and transfers a working config.sys and autoexec.bat files to C:
It also transfers the win98se system files to C: to make it bootable.
You can only use setuphd.bat if you boot from the CD.
Try this as well. Type setuphd.bat
