Here's a timeline of events from WWE's perspective from WWE.com

Detailed WWE/Benoit timeline
Written: June 26, 2007

Below is a detailed WWE/Chris Benoit timeline from Saturday to Monday:

Saturday, June 23, 2007

Chris Benoit was scheduled to appear at the WWE SmackDown/ ECW live event in Beaumont, Texas

3:30pm
A co-worker received a voice message from Benoit. The message from Benoit stated he missed his flight and over slept and would be late to the WWE Live Event. The co-worker called Benoit back, Benoit confirmed everything he said in his voice message and sounded tired and groggy. Benoit then stated, “I love you”. The co-worker stated that it was “out of context.”

3:42pm
The same co-worker was concerned with Benoit’s tone and demeanor and called Benoit for a second time. Benoit did not answer the call and the co-worker left a message stating “just call me back.”

3:44pm
Benoit called the co-worker back stating he didn’t answer the call because he was on the phone with Delta changing his flight. Benoit stated he had a real stressful day due to Nancy and Daniel being sick with food poisoning. They discussed travel plans for the WWE Tour of Texas with Benoit still sounding groggy at this point according to the co-worker.

4:30pm
A co-worker who consistently travels with Benoit, called Benoit from outside Houston airport and Benoit answered. Benoit told the co-worker that Nancy was throwing up blood and that Daniel was also throwing up. Benoit thought they had food poisoning. Benoit stated he changed his flight and he would be arriving into Houston at 6:30pm. Benoit told the co-worker to drive onto the WWE event.

5:35pm
Benoit called WWE Talent Relations stating that his son was throwing up and that he and Nancy were in the hospital with their son, and that Benoit would be taking a later flight into Houston, landing late, but would make the WWE live event in Beaumont.

6:10pm
A representative of Talent Relations called Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations asked Benoit what time Benoit was getting into Beaumont. Benoit responded he was leaving Atlanta at 9:20pm Eastern time arriving into Houston at 9:24pm Central time. The representative from Talent Relations advised Benoit that it would be too late to make the WWE live event in Beaumont. Benoit apologized citing he had a family emergency. The representative from Talent Relations suggested to Benoit that instead of going to the WWE live event in Beaumont, Benoit should take the flight to Houston, rest up and be ready for the Vengeance Pay-Per-View event.

6:13pm
The representative from Talent Relations called Benoit to reconfirm the travel plans with no answer from Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations left a voice message to take the flight and rest up.

Lets forgive Stalin then, and lets forgive Hitler.. and BeReal... cause hey.. we are all human right...

im not gonna get into a religous arguement with everybody. its angers people that Benoit killed his family. but he will be judged. im still shocked on what happend. how other wrestlers have said great things about Chris, but as fans you dont know how they live outside of wrestling.

i know Benoit's other children have to grow up now without their parents. ya cant tell me that Chris didnt believe im sure Eddie has been a big influence on his life. Eddie helped him back in 2003. and when Eddie died im sure that hurt Chris inside. lost without guidance from his best friend. theres plenty of things ya just dont know. and during the course of time more and more facts will come out about Chris and his last days here on earth. his marital problems and what drove him to kill his family.

its easy to point the finger at steroids but benoit knew what he was doing, i read he put a bag over his son as he was sleeping, so that is on his own accord

Child Murderer. How sick I can't believe they honored the memory of a murderer. I understand he was somebody's child as well. We all are the child of somebody but I can't believe they honored him before getting all the facts and before they took the time to find out he murdered his wife and son before killing himself.

if you are referring to the tribute that WWE did on monday night, you have to remember that the only info they had at that time was that they were dead, not that Chris killed them. they just followed company policy in paying tribute to wrestlers that have died. Vince basically apologized for it on the ECW show the next day, where he stated there will be no more mention of Chris Benoit on WWE.

what's shocking to me is the number of tribute videos on youtube, and how a lot of people there are defending him, some even believing he was framed, or maybe he came home and found his family dead, and took his own life because he couldn't live without them. try reading the facts of the case people, by the time he made contact with WWE on Saturday and told them the story about Nancy and Daniel being sick, Nancy would have already been dead. Chris Benoit is a child murdering piece of shit who, now that the facts are out, does not deserve any kind of tribute. who gives a fuck how good of a wrestler he was, he murdered his own 7 year old son in cold blood.

Yes that is was I was referring to but now that the facts are out I waited to react to hear more of the story and am glad I did. It's sad but hey there will always be people out there defending child moslesters, murderers, rapists ect. It's a sad fact of life. EEEWW.
This man obviously had serious issues but doesn't (imo) deserve to be honored as some sort of great talented kind hearted man. I mean a part of me feels bad the guy didn't get the help he obviously needed and that's sad but the man ended up a coward in the end.

The whole situation is just so sad.

It really pisses me off that people now hate on him

I'm not defending him, but the image i had of him was a guy who put his body on the line every god damn time he entered the freaking ring. I remember tons of his matches and I just respected him how much he was commited to what he was doing.

I remember when he won the Heavyweight championship and when he grabbed his son in his arms...

I just now can't and do not want to believe that he killed his wife and son.

I still respect him as a wrestler, but I really have no more respect of him as a person.

well that is your right, whether you still want to respect him for his ring skills. but personally, i won't be able to watch a match of his without thinking about what he did to his own wife and child. and whether you want to believe it or not (i know i sure didn't want to believe it) he did kill them. i'm amazed at how many people are able to turn a blind eye to this and still talk about what a great man he was.

"I remember him when he won the Heavyweight..."

Man, it's a movie! WWE is nothing but a decades-long film. Don't make him out to be more than an entertainer, although he actually was a wrestler. Michael Jordan won the NBA title, Benoit received the heavyweight belt.

I've seen about 15 posts here that say "This will shatter his legacy..." as if that's the biggest problem here! His son and wife are dead. His wife's family's life is shattered, fuck a fucking JOB OCCUPATION.

i hate having to defend the guy now, but SOFI, it still is a big deal to win the WWE championship, it's what most of these guys work their whole lives for. and it's a bit more than just an acting job or whatever. you have to be a good performer to be given the title, and Chris Benoit was one of the most respected guys in the business for his in-ring performances. he did have a legacy to his fans, even if that means nothing to you. but everything he did in his career is wiped out by his actions this weekend. he showed just how despicable a human being he was. his ring greatness is forever tarnished, and i hate him for it.

I wont be able to watch him again without thinking what he did.

The tragic family secret Benoit kept from the world

Wrestler's son suffered from growth ailment

Pro wrestler Chris Benoit and his wife fought over care for their mentally retarded son only days before the muscleman killed his family and hanged himself, a lawyer said yesterday.

Nancy Benoit had demanded her husband spend more time with 7-year-old Daniel, who was left mentally and physically stunted by a genetic disorder called Fragile X, an inherited form of mental retardation often accompanied by autism.

The Benoits kept the illness a secret even from their closest friends, but it created a huge strain on his family life, World Wrestling Entertainment lawyer Jerry McDevitt said.

"The subject of caring for that child was part of what made their relationship complicated and difficult," McDevitt said. "It's something they were both struggling with. We do know it was a sense of stress and consternation."

He said Nancy, 43, "wanted [Benoit] to be at home more to take care of the kid."

Daniel's illness, which becomes more noticeable after puberty, could explain why cops found track marks from injections of human growth hormone on the little boy's arms.

"The first thing we think is [that] this wrestler was forcing drugs on his kid," said Dr. Robert Gotlin of Beth Israel Medical Center. "But it could have been totally legitimate."

Cops said the Montreal-born Benoit, known as "The Canadian Crippler," killed his wife on Friday and his son late Saturday or early Sunday in their home in Fayetteville, a suburb south of Atlanta.

Injuries suggest Benoit strangled Daniel in a choke hold. The boy was found in his bedroom, surrounded by posters of his dad, cops said. A Bible was laid beside each body.

Benoit killed himself up to a day later, wrapping a cord from a weightlifting machine around his neck and releasing 240 pounds of weights, investigators said.

Cops found anabolic steroids in his house. Steroids can cause users to burst into violent rages. Toxicology tests were under way to determine whether they may have played a role in the tragedy.

Sources said the 40-year-old athlete had been told this month he was being demoted by WWE from a main event fighter to more of a coaching role. But only hours before the killings, Benoit had seemed normal, working out at a gym, scheduling a massage and visiting his personal physician.

"He certainly didn't show any sign of any distress or rage or anything," said Dr. Phil Astin, who saw him Friday morning. Astin had treated Benoit for low testosterone levels, a condition he said likely stemmed from previous steroid use.

Benoit never mentioned Daniel's illness, said Benoit's pal James Robison, who said he called the wrestler Thursday.

"He loved Daniel with all his heart," Robison said. "He would do anything for Daniel. What happened happened. But that's not the Chris Benoit who was my friend."

A co-worker and long-time friend of the Benoits speculates that perhaps the pressures of home and Daniel?s illness had gotten to him, causing him to snap and take the lives of his wife and son before taking his own.

?Is it possible that after Chris killed Nancy (for whatever reason), he felt Daniel wouldn't be able to get the care and attention he required as a special needs child (if that is indeed true) with no mother and a father either in jail or dead? Did he then decide that the only way he could protect and take care of his son was to take him to the next world and go with him? In his warped and twisted state, did he think this was the only way to shield his son from a difficult life of pain and hardship? It doesn't condone or justify a damn thing, but it's the best reason I can think of. I'm trying to put together some semblance of logic for his actions, but it's an impossible task trying to explain this.?

There was this weirdo from wales who done basically the same thing about 5 years ago. The thing was he was actually a very normal loving father, but obviously being in debt and depression just tipped him over the edge. In the middle of the night he went to his sleeping wife and caved her head in with a hammer, then went to all his kids rooms and done the same, then topped himself. He had 4 kids so the place was a blood bath.

i believe the steroids made him do this. it is a very sick story. no matter what was happening in this family, he had no right to kill his wife and his son. nothing justifies what he did.

maybe he was an exceptional wrestler. in fact he was. but fuck that he fucking killed his family.
