But how could Earl not promise Bret? If he didn't make that promise, Bret would have known something was up. Look I'm not trying to defend what he did, it was a bitch move and he never should have done it. But this was 8 years ago, Bret has put it behind him, he's even forgiven Vince (Kind of, anyway), why can't you let it go? As far as I'm concerned, what Vince did was 10 times worse.
How could he not have...?

Umm, it goes like this.

Bret: Earl, you're the only one I can trust. I want you to watch my back.

Earl: Ok.

See? Easy.

I haven't watched Wrestling With Shadows in a while, but didn't Bret ask him to promise to call the match fairly?, I could be wrong, however, I'll have to watch it again, I got it on tape somewhere.

That's basically what I just said but ok, we'll switch it up.

Bret: Earl, you're the only one I can trust. I want you to watch my back.

Earl: Ok.

Bret: Promise me you'll call it fairly.

Earl: I promise.

Now, while I doubt Bret straight out asked him to make the promise (since they were long-time friends, I don't know if Bret thought a promise was needed although I know a promise was given) but regardless, did Earl have to swear on his children's life? Come on now, to break that word is about as low as a man can go.

You're joking right? Either that or you're just not a wrestling fan and never heard about it, but haven't you heard of the Montreal screwjob?

yeah not a wrestling fan but was curious since this seems to be a big issue :p
but the "montreal screwjob" gave me some good results in google and now i know what happened :D
tried to look for it on a video format but wasn't successful, would be nice to see how they act and talk when theyre out of scenarios.

Well after the bell rang, Bret Hart just stood in the ring in utter shock, Michaels acted all innocent, as if to say "I had no idea that was gonna happen" and Hebner headed straight to the back, straight into a waiting car and home. Bret spat at Vince McMahon, trashed some ringside monitors and then climbed onto the turnbuckles and drew the letters "W-C-W" in the air with his finger. Then he went backstage, Vince tried to apologise and Hart knocked him the fuck out.

I actually just downloaded the match and watched it. Shawn does a pretty good job of acting like he had no idea what was going on, but yet he got the fuck outta the arena like it was on fire. I wonder if Jim Ross or Jerry Lawler knew what would happen, Jim just says, "Bret submitted to the sharpshooter, I guess" like he didn't know what happened

JR is said to have known. Lawler too. This is heavily speculated but not confirmed. Then again, it was never confirmed that Shawn knew.....but we all know he did.

Shawn has admitted that he was involved, he did a couple of years ago
That's the word of a liar though! lol

I'm not saying not to believe him in this instance because a lot of shit does point to his involvement but then, what a simple but effective work it would be had he not been involved. It's the kind of lie that could make someone the most successful heel ever, you know?

But yeah, I do think he was involvement.......anyways lol

The thing is that he wasn't a heel at the time he admitted it, so that wouldn't make sense.
Ever since Shawn Michaels left the Rockers he has always been a heel to a degree.

Even when they were pushing him as a face, he had heel qualities & there was always the likelihood he would switch - which he did, back & forth like a yo-yo.

True, but this is when he first returned to WWF in 2002, I think, and the fans weren't gonna hate him, he was a huge fan favorite at the time (Except in Canada that is, I don't think there will ever be a time Canadian fans won't boo him)

lmao, yeah I don't think he'll ever be welcome in Canada. :D

WHat are you talking about? He's been at tons of Canadian matches, don't you notice the chants of "You screwed Bret" every time he's in the ring? Hell even his son, who's also a referee, gets chants of "your dad screwed Bret" lmao
