Born into a Prison

It would take me no more then 5years to understand algebra & english writing. But it's expanded into 13years.. with a bunch of other useless classes thrown in there purposely to extend the time it takes. And behind every action theres a purpose. And in this case, I believe it is to control somewhat of society, to keep order.
That would be fine, if everyone wanted to be an Algebra teacher or an English teacher. Like CC said, by exposing you to other subjects they give you a taste of what they are like, and once you get to the point at which you're able to decide which subjects you'd like to continue, you have a basic idea of what you're good at/what you enjoy. Of course there are non-educational purposes behind school; enhance social skills, embed a level of respect for authority (no more than is necessary to function in society) and, yes, to keep kids off the streets. I don't see why that's a bad thing, though.

having the government controll nearly every aspect of your life is kinda like being in prison

you cant jaywalk with being called a terrorist under the patriot act, and now those labled as terrorist dont even get a fair trial

the police can treat you like a convict before your even convicted of anything

if you get caught with a gram of marijuana you get thrown in jail for 20 years and you have to work for $0.05 hr

is it any wonder why the prison population doubles every 3-4 years

and while they lock your ass up for practically nothing the government floods your streets with coke and heroin

what you people are saying may or may not be true...however ill ask this question...what are YOU doing to avoid being "enslaved"? i mean, if you know how the system works, then you must know how to beat the system or atleast avoid it better than we are. so tell me, whats your secret, how does it feel to be "free"? and how does being free make your lives better than all of ours who are still "enslaved"?

i think by informing other people of what's going on you are avoiding being 100% enslaved....your putting out alot of other options to think about!
being free in the end will be alot better, just knowing i didnt sell out my "soul" and also knowing im being concious and aware is another sign to know im going to master life and not let it master me!!

just my opinon......all great minds through out time have inspired change and fought suppression

i don't know i have a split opinion on this topic, but then again once you are done school and all that shit you can just exploit the system for your own gain.

yeah i think its really just a matter of opinion...and its not even like only a specific group has this view, even bill o'reily constantly complains about the media and i'd guess that he has his fair share of negative views on the american school system too. so i mean, it goes to show people on both ends of the political spectrum think along these lines.

ok, since u say "the education system is one crooked ass way they controlling us" ( well i dont think its about controlling us at all..anyway)...what should change about the whole system? should it be a free choice to go to school at all?
Yes and they should have programs for people who arent planning to go to a regular 4 year college. I'm pretty sure they do that in Australia. School is designed for people planning to go to a 4 year college, well most people dont go to a 4 year college.

we only got like 100 years on earth basically, dont complain about the problem, learn about it and find a way to make it work for u, do something that makes u earn millions, invest the shit, make more millions, start up a business, buy buildings get involved with politics, have lots of kids, teach them what youve learnt and tell them to teach there kids, u will then have a rich family line, as the decades and generations progress, your family line will get richer and richer and have more influence in how things work.

LOL u made it sound so easy. Damn I was all into that for a minute there.
ahhaa :D, its hard work, but it pays of, i rememeber seeing this 19 year old brother who was a millionair becuz he made some kind of kitchen appliance, hes set for life, all he has to do it, hold a couple mill and invest a mill in something or buy something that holds and can create more value, hes only 19, as he gets a little older and delvelopes his mind he can become something great, its the people that think of the future and act now that make it big.

My target isn't education.. cuz in most cases its necessary. But they controlling us & we dont even know it or stop to think bout it. You think of it as normal life shit.. but its normal to u cuz ur born adapting to it & bein use to it. shit aint right. We living in a controlled society
You got a point. I think school is important and I think u kind find knowledge there but of course it's also a way to control the minds.

lol.. making it isnt so easy..i have a million and one ideas that im POSITIVE will make me disgustingly rich, but the problem is i have NO/LITTLE capital to get my shit rolling...

and to whoever started the thread saying they went to a top high school.. do you realize the oppurtunity you have/had, given that the high school you go to is REALLY a top high school in a rich neighborhood? You are basically handed a college education, as opposed to someone coming out of a high school that is undergoing adminstrative reforms. Thats why one of the major factors influencing the purchase of housing is schooling. Rich neighborhoods pay more taxes = better school programs etc = better college oppurtunity. I hope you dont take it for granted, i would have killed to have attended a half ass decent high school. Homie you werent born into a prison
