/\ maybe internationally, in the US it'll probably be branded as something else.

regarding those specs, someone on a forum made those up, but someone "in the know" said that they were pretty close. I hope they are correct, but I also think that this device WILL be the Nexus Two.

And depending on when it comes out, it'll probably ship with Froyo and not Gingerbread.

Yes, than plastic. Nobody creates touchscreens made of "casual" plastic (maybe some resistive screens which slightly bend when touched).
Many if not most higher end Android phones have screen made of fibreglass. That's even the case with my Spica.
Other capacitive screens are usually made from a pretty strong scratch-resistant plastic-ish material which is usually pretty damn good too.

Just tried to put Froyo on mine...mostly worked but a few issues, gonna try again tomorrow, although there is a rumour we'll be getting an official one June 23rd.

Didn't know someone had baked up a FroYo Desire ROM. That is cool. I hope that June 23rd rumor is true. Should have gotten around to rooting my cousin's Desire by then.

Looks like we didn't get the full dish from Sanjay Jha's bout of loquaciousness this morning. It turns out Moto's chief of handsets has also expressed his company's intention to bring the world its first 2GHz smartphone and to do so on an aggressively accelerated roadmap. By the end of the year, Sanjay? Yes please. Another Moto exec is cited as saying NVIDIA Tegra will be providing the graphics prowess, Flash 10.1 will be fully supported, and a gyroscope will accompany HD video recording and output on the dreamy spec sheet. We wouldn't invest all of our trust in the conveniently anonymous exec's promised specs, but that 2GHz number comes straight from the top -- let the countdown begin.
Motorola wants a 2GHz Android by year's end, so do we -- Engadget

Please let this come true

Damn. After learning for Casey the efficiency and potency of TI's processors over overhyped shit like the Snapdragon, I would love to have the 2Ghz OMAP over the 700+ Mhz one expected in the Droid 2 or the Droid X.

but that would concern me with the battery life issue. im really sick of having terrible battery life even after optimising performance/efficiency using tools etc...

The stable 5.0.7 (Android 2.1) ROM on my G1 is probably worse than the 7th experimental build (test-7) for battery life. It charges to 100% and before i know it, its always back to about 73%.

From the Acer fan page on Facebook:

The Clear.fi solution is enriched with the new Acer Stream Smartphone, optimized to watch high-def movies, enjoy music with Spinlets free streaming service and easily connect with social networks. Some nice features include: Android 2.1 Éclair OS, Dolby Mobile audio, Amoled touchscreen, and an HDMI port. Check out the pic and let us know what your first impressions are!

Why arent't you on 5.0.8 yet?

As for battery, buy a bigger one. That's what I did. I was hella frustrated with the pitiful 1100mAh battery the G1 ships with, so I bought a 1600mAH one. Now I get decent battery life.

its not about having the battery the G1 shipped with it, its that the new ROMs utilise more battery life even though i used autokiller and task killer to ensure there are minimal background processes running.

My 1300mAh lasts me about 30 hours with texting and browsing and the occasional call. 3G is always on too.

Droid X and Droid 2 confirmed for VZW in July and August respectively. Looks like I won't be getting those either since when my upgrade comes around November, something new would already be out or about to come out. I like HTC, but after seeing Moto's processors rape everyone when overclocked since they don't use Qualcomm for the top-notch phones, I may just hold out until the supposed 2 Ghz one comes out. Supposed to be in 2010, right? I can wait until December or January, if it gets pushed back.
