I never really knew that Amazon was that popular. I mean, nobody here uses it and I believe that it flopped here (since we don't have our local Amazon) so that might be the reason but it seems to me like it pretty much sucks from what I see. I can't picture it being more useful than available alternatives for shopping but I never really bothered to check out how it works. I was just aware that something like this exists and Americans tend to buy things there.
The point is that I couldn't care less about it, as well as probably most people using Android.

I thought refunds had a 24 hour limit for the point of sale.

So within a few years i could be giving out those annoying BBM codes to a few people? I'd rather stick to my GTalk. If only they can implement BBM and GTalk together in some way so that the BBM codes are a 'connected' way to log in with GTalk - maybe like Facebook Connect? But then it wouldn't be BBM would it? So apps like Whatsapp and Kik Messenger would be in decline if this move does go ahead.

It used to be 24 hours. They changed it down to 15 minutes about 4 months back.

I'd rather stick to GTalk too. Besides which, Beluga (which operates in a very similar manner to BBM, but better) was just acquired by Facebook. So more than likely a bunch of people are gonna be using that, in the future. I'm already using it and it's quite good, I was a little upset when FB acquired it though...

Amazon is the best online shopping experience. I buy an item every day. Far cheaper than everywhere else most of the time. 1 click ordering. And reasonable delivery. Free in most cases.

I can't fault it.

Just bought a new book for under a tenner that I was finding listed for £20 on second hand book sites.

I won't be using it for apps though. Don't see the point. Unless what they have is exclusive.

Yeah, I used to buy a great deal of music from Amazon. And books. Their used marketplace for music has some great deals on hard to find stuff.

How do they manage to be so cheap? I mean, how can they be cheaper than other online stores or internet auction sites? Economy of scale alone? Here bigger retailers and network stores are usually more expensive, even those selling online only. Price comparison services is what I use - I just pick the cheapest reliable store that sells the product I'm looking for.

Seems like the BBM app for Android and iPhone will be a stripped down version in comparison to the Blackberry version of the app. But that's good enough since all we really need is text communication - the essential function. I read a while back that there were plans for a future release of BBM to include gaming vs your friends and gamertags. All that is surplus - not a necessity.

They might introduce a one-off charge for use of the app (Android and iPhone versions). They didn't state how much though. I'm still hoping for better integration with the system, and I'll see what I'll do further down the line as a number of friends have BBM.

I usually use price comparison sites too. But have found for books or music, Amazon usually wins. I used to use play.com a lot. But Amazon is my usual stop these days.

NookColor is getting an official FroYo update in April that brings Flash support, Email and NookStore with Apps.

Obviously that makes no difference to me, since I've rooted and installed the Google apps and Market anyway....but maybe worth mentioning in case any one has got their eye on one.

So crap that Samsung didnt include a Last.fm API in their default music app for the Galaxy S. Even HTC did in their Sense music player. Now i have to get my brother to use WinAmp just so he can scrobble - which i dont think he wants to do.

you don't need it. just get the last.fm app. it should be able to scrobble from any music player.

and fuck winamp, tell your bro to get Cubed - thats the best third party music player by a long shot.

So... for a rooted G2... anyone know of a free tethering app?? T-Mobile was talking about an extra $15 per month in order to use the phone as a hotspot. :\

That didn't work because Samsung don't have the default android player on their TouchWiz devices so last.fm cannot work in conjunction with it. Although cubed is a nice concept (i had this on my G1), I think WinAmp is simpler to use for my brother as he is not so tech-savvy. i will recommend it to him and see what he thinks. Meridian was terrible.

Samsung Droid Charge.... nothing particularly interesting about this one IMO.

Remember that vaguely named “LTE Smartphone” being flaunted at CES by both Samsung and Verizon Wireless? According to intel gather by blog PocketNow, it looks like that very same handset will henceforth be known as the DROID Charge. Originally codenamed Stealth, the DROID Charge (also known as the SCH-i510) packs a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with 720p video recording, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, LTE/CDMA radios, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, aGPS, HDMI-out, and Android 2.2. Neither Verizon nor Samsung have confirmed the device’s new nickname, and “April” is a popular release-date rumor circulating the intertubes.

Updating to CM7 RC4 now on my G2. According to the changelog, aside from bugfixes, it's added hardware acceleration for the NookColor.

So I'm gonna check the CM forums, and if there's no major problems I might try flashing it to my NookColor.
