"America Is Addicted To Oil" - Bush

#21
How do you expect him to please everyone? Everyone wants tax cuts AND better health care plans. How do these people expect him to pull off tax cuts AND better health care? Something like that (if even possible) would take several decades. How does America "support and indulge in oppression"? Do you care to explain yourself, because I just don't see where you're coming from. There's oppression in America? Where? How do we support oppression in other nations? We loathe oppression in other nations. If you don't agree with that statement, just look at what America has done for Iraq and you will see yourself disproved.
I didn't argue with him on the point of America's oil addiction, I totally agree with him. AND i agree with his ideas of alternative fuel, but had he consulted any reliable scientists in the field he would have known the limits of solar and wind energy and how unrealistic they are for such an enormous country. So why waste funding (which we will have LESS of due to TAX CUTS) on pointless technology when our country is in need? Doesn't seem very intelliigent to me. You didn't PROVE me wrong, because I knew about hydrogen cars and the like, and that he mentioned them, which is exactly why I DIDN'T criticize him.

But I can't respond to the rest because I have to get to school, later in the day I will try to though, Peace.

But why is he all of a sudden talking about us being addicted to oil and needing to change, when everyone else was talking about this at least 3 years ago? Is it because the Iraqi wellsprings of oil he was expecting to get hasn't worked out? Is it because his approval ratings are like 40%, and so, he's decided to sing a different tune, the obvious one? Meanwhile, he's drilling in Alaska.

We obviously couldn't be totally dependent on solar and wind energy, but as inexpensive as they are, they would be useful for small towns. It is hardly "pointless technology". If you already knew about hydrogen cars, why didn't you mention that you knew about them and they were a good idea?

Care to respond to any of my other responses?

State of the Onion was a bloody farce. The man couldn't say three sentences without the whole hall applauding him.

Yeah i know, im not pinning anything on Georgie. He used to be a very good speaker and still retains some of that today. It's just that i find it ridiculous that there is applauding 35% (rough guess :p)of the time, be it in the State of the Union or the mayor's goodbye speech in Oberdorfhausen somewhere in the Austrian mountains.
