A new Pope has been chosen

People always find a way to escape the law. And he couldn't do that?

Come on, you know very well that if he only put some damn effort he could've escaped the "law".

Yeah, I'm sure it was real easy to evade the law in Nazi Germany. He risked his life by deserting, is that not enough for you?

This reminds me of something I heard while watching the Tv, something about the anti-christ and shit..

They were saying after Pope Jean Paul would die, another Pope would be in place, but he would die quickly due to his old age. Then the Pope after that, would have, apperently, 'Evil' tendencies...

Whatever though....

It does matter indeed this new pope will be running religious things now and it matters a lot he may be doing great things to keep on the legeacy but at the same time possibly bastardize it so we have to keep aware for all of it...It does matter to those that care anyways....I'm one of those people who do.

can someone explain to me what the pope does?

seems so fuckin important like a god or soemthing
he only runs the entire Catholic community, interpeting the beliefs and determining how the religion should handle new situations.. he's also one of the most important diplomats in the world, influencing most all of the world leaders

so basically he just sits on his ass all day

Not that i know much or anything on the subject - but i do see the Churches point, it is a biblical text, it is hardly up for discussion. Although i would like to see the church take a less hard line view on such things as contraception, one cant help but see the churches point, its not in their power to change the historical text in anyway.

Finally, a quality post on the subject.

The church should try to stick to their doctrine as much as possible, but they can't ignore modern changes. This is the Catholic religion, not your wardrobe. You can't just change it whenever it suits you.
