Dafoe left for Portsmouth cause he wasn't starting enough at Tottenham. When he was first signed in 2004, he then was making a lot more appearances, but that plummeted afterwards since Keane pissed on him half of the time.

He's better off at Pompey with Crouch anyways :thumb: :)

I always said that Villa or MON wont be bullied into selling Barry. And there was Rafa expecting us to obey his orders! Well sorry to disappoint you! MON knows what he's doing.

I think I mentioned somewhere before that we set a deadline for the £18m bid from Liverpool, we set the standard and Liverpool couldn't match that valuation in time; so the deal's off!

Martin O'Neill tonight spoke of his delight at the news Gareth Barry will be staying at Villa Park next season.

As we exclusively revealed earlier today, Villa set a deadline for Liverpool to pursue their interest in the England international. That deadline passed at tea-time and Barry will not be moving to Anfield.

O'Neill never gave up hope that Barry could be persuaded to stay and consistently reiterated his desire to keep the player.

Tonight the Villa boss told avfc.co.uk "Naturally we're all absolutely delighted that Gareth will be staying at Villa Park and relieved that there is resolution and closure to the transfer saga.

"At a very positive meeting on Monday it was agreed between Gareth, his agent, Mr Lerner and myself that a deadline should be communicated to Liverpool to finally resolve the situation.

"Liverpool were informed and that deadline came and passed. Now we can all look forward to the season ahead with relief, anticipation and ambition."

Bentley completes his Spurs move, £15m potentially rising to £17m. I don't know what this means for Lennon...
Apparently, when Arsenal sold Bentley to Blackburn they included a sell on clause in his contract, so Arsenal get a percentage of the £15m fee Spurs pay to Blackburn. It's thought to be around £7m. So that leaves Blackburn with £8-10million from the sale, with Arsenal inheriting £7m.

prices are very overinflated these days and blackburn have set a price tag on their player. so if other clubs want him that desparately they will meeet the asking price. thats what we did to liverpool over barry, but clearly the interested clubs would be detered by the asking price unless they raise the funds.

a lot of clubs would like to have bentley and there was competition for him even though paul ince wanted him to stay at the club. so of course, they would set a high fee, like villa want barry to stay and so therefore set a high fee for him too. same with ronaldo for united, robinho for real, kaka for milan.

^^^You repeated the same thing me and Flipmo said a few pages ago.

Anyways, Spurs offer 34M Pounds for Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko

re: the Bentley fee

Some of the papers are saying that Arsenal included a sell-on clause when they sold Bentley to Blackburn, so obviously that pushes his price up by quite a lot. According to the article I read, Arsenal might be making £7m from the deal.

I read on the front page of the Independent today that C Ronaldo will demand a move to Real Madrid next week. their must be some substance to it if they have it on their front page.
