Finally I found Shenmue 2 on xbox! I'll be playing that for all my free time now. This game is really great tho controls are a bit complicated.

I played that on my friend's dreamcast few years ago.

Now I started it on my xbox and I'm already stuck :p

I'm trying to get that kid who stole that bag but I keep on getting caught by a policeman for jumping over a fence. I'm too slow pressing "A" probably.

Man you guys are making me want to play it again too, but my xbox drive is fucked. I need to buy a replacement drive.

I suppose I could fire up my dreamcast and play it on that....

I have a strange thought that part 1 was better.

Here it's mostly walking in Hong Kong and talking with people about the same things. Interaction is really limited. It's cool how you can talk with everybody but hell you can ask only the one same sentence.
I bet first part was in Japan which in fact would interest me more.
Also IMO the game is a bit too dark. Except that controls are annoying considering you have to walk from one part of town to another on another end and it's a bit disturbing.
Also there should be more time to learn how to fight. I see Sega bets that whoever plays this game, has already played part 1.

Except that it's still a great game. I just wrote what I consider as this game's downfalls.

Also.. what would Shenmue 3 be about?

^^ Finish part 2 and then ask that question, LOL.
Yeah exactly.

Part II is way better. Play through Kowloon and Guilin and then try and tell me 1 is better. Yes, it's better if you've played 1 first and of course you have more time to learn the fighting in the first, but hell, the whole of the first game was based in Yokosuka, whereas in II you have Hong Kong, Kowloon, Guilin.....etc

hey guys. I thought to bring this thread back to life as I'm actually playing Shenmue 2 whenever I'll find some spare time and it's really super dope.
Whenever I start to play I can't stop :)

I just left that temple and I'm looking for some kind of gang.
As I'm writing this some old lady takes me to Abe..something.
It'll takes ages untill I'll get there probably but I'm too lazy to get there myself :p

I still can't quite learn fighting. Camera is annoying at times, I can't see anything and I get beat up :( except that I just press random buttons to win :D
There should be more chances to practice.

Also this game is a bit too creepy. It's nice and all but I'm usually playing that at night and it's vibe is disturbing, especially when someone attacks me out of nowhere and I have like 0.5sec to press a button lol

LOL. I know what you mean, you gotta have quick reflexes for sure.

I know where you are in the game. You left the Man Mo Temple? And you're looking for Ren's gang, The Heavens?

:(

They need to make it, dammit. Argh.

Which tape? The one in Ren's den that you have to play on the machine? If I recall, you have to fast forward or something to get to a message where you hear a sound in the background. I wont tell you what the sound is, that would sort of be a spoiler to the next part.

No, you're thinking of E.Honda from Street Fighter.
LOL

yeah another part would be dope.
That game is my no.3 best game of all time after C&C series and GTA series.

If they'd choose to release Shenmue 3 on 360 I'd even buy that toy instead of PS3 :D For that one game.

Anyway I listened to that tape for 3-4 times and it finally worked.

Now I just found Yuanda Zhu. It's a bit annoying as I managed to beat all them guys down (including Dou niu or whatever his name is) but suddenly the screen got red and a video sequence appeared telling me that I lost and I wake up in master Tao's room. WTF? They should have done more options because whatever I'll do there'll be the same sequence and the story will go the same way anyway.

You found Yuanda Zhu, isn't that the bit where you have to navigate all those damn planks to get across the rooms, then at the top floor you have to find all the animal shaped keys.

Then the bookcase moves or something, you find Yuanda Zhu but Dou Niu follows, and you jump outside and fight him? IIRC, if you keep fighting him the screen fades out anyway, there's only one way it goes from there.

Where are you at now?

yeah I played 2 games enough times to remember the main parts.....the annoying thing is, it's so vast, no matter how many times you play there's always shit you missed.
