I want people to list a squad of 22 of the players they think are the best since the Premiership started back in 1992.You can have 3 Goalkeepers,6 Defenders,7 midfielders and 6 Forewards.
Mine would be:
Goalkeepers
Peter Schmeichal(Man Utd):One of the greatest keepers of all time
David Seaman(Arsenal):A great servant for Asenal.Great Keeper
Peter Cech(Chelsea):Gets the nod ahead of Given because he has won 2 leagues. If Given was at one of the top clubs, where he deserves to be then he would have won more.
Defenders
Dennis Irwin(Man Utd/Oldham):So under-rated.He was consisitently brilliant for Man Utd when they won all those leagues.
Tony Adams(Arsenal):Fantastic defender. Was the rock in defence for Arsenal's successful team.
John Terry(Chelsea):Great leader. For all the millions Chelsea spent,it is funny how their most important player came up throught the ranks at the club.
Colin Hendry(Blackburn/Coventry/Bolton):He played every game as if it was a war.Outstanding for Blackburn when they won the league in 1995.
Lee Dixon(Arsenal):Like Irwin he was very underrated.Very consistent
Sami Hyypia(Liverpool)ossibly the best signing ever if you consider that he only cost about 2.5 million when he signed from Willem II.A great defender.Gets the nod over Sol Campbell and Paul McGrath.
Midfielders
Roy Keane(Nottingham Forest/Man Utd):Obviously. What a great player.Manchester Uniteds driving force throughout the 90's and early 00's.Such a leader and chipped in with his fair share of goals.People say the he wasnt that skillful but Keane could go past players with the ball when he needed to.His passing game was good as well. One of the greatest players of all time imo.
Ryan Giggs(Man Utd):Great left winger.Giggs was always one of my favourite players.Still going strong today.
Paul Scholes(Man Utd):Again very under rated.Probably because he is a very quiet and private guy.Classic midfield player.
Patrick Viera(Arsenal):Arsenals version of Keane but not as good.Still he was equally important.Outstanding during Arsenal's successful period.
Steven Gerrard(Liverpool)eserves to be included because he has been Liverpool's main man for a number of seasons.Always capable of the spectacular.
David Beckham(Man Utd)eople might be surprised that i pick him because i criticise him alot but im picking the Man Utd David Beckham. The player before he turned into a circus. Was excellent for Man Utd.Great crosses and set pieces.
David Ginola(Newcastle/Spurs/Everton):Gets the nod ahead of Lampard because in his prime Ginola was a joy to watch.Probably should have won a league with Newcastle.
Forwards
Ginafranco Zola(Chelsea):What a joy to watch.Brilliant player. One of the main reasons that Chelsea went from a mediocre mid table team to being bought by Abramovich and subsequently winning the league.
Matt Le Tissier(Southampton):In my opinion he was one of the greatest players in the history of English football.Go to youtube and type in le tissier and watch his goals. He saved Southampton nearly every year from relegation on his own.He was good enough to play for the top teams but he always remained loyal to Southampton.A class act.
Alan Shearer(Blackburn/Newcastle):Scored goals consistently throughout his career. His goals propelled Blackburn to the league title in 1995.Moved to Newcastle when a move to Man Utd might have been the better option but he wanted to play for his hometown club.Great player.
Thierry Henry(Arsenal):Outstanding. Can do impossible things.Best player in the premiership for the past 5 years.Has been injured this season but is still the best in the Premiership.
Eric Cantona(Man Utd):I didnt like the fucker.Especially after he scored against Liverpool in the 1996 FA Cup final but the man was pure class.Never made a big impression on the European or World Stage but in the Premiership his brilliance was undoubted.
Teddy Sherringham(Spurs,Man Utd,West Ham):There was load of players to chose from fill in the last forward spot like Rush,Fowler,Atkinson,Saunders,Owen,Yorke,
Cole Ferdinand etc but ive gone with Sherringham because of his consitency thorughout his career and he is still going at West Ham.
