Gotta admit, kinda jealous that all the US SGS2 variants have 4.5" screens rather than 4.3".

Nexus Prime allegedly ups the ante to 4.6" with a full 720p HD resolution to boot. Gonna be seriously tempted to sell the SGS2 and flip it for a Nexus.. we'll see.

All the US variants except the one of the Verizon because they're sucking Motorola's dick now for the Bionic.

How does the EVO 3D work? Why does it have the "3D" moniker and the, seemingly, two cameras?

Because it comes with the "no glasses" 3d so staring at the screen from a fixed distance from a fixed angle you can see the 3d effect. In reality it's basically 2 layers of screen. It also has a 3d/2d switch and a 3d camera, following the hype, just like any other 3d phone.
Now if you wanted my opinion I played with the 3D LG phone and I think it sucks. It's not "wow, awesome" kind of thing though, like they want to make it seem like it's the new cool thing. As much as I think that 3d tvs kind of suck I think that 3d phones suck much more.

I see. I guess I have to use it to see. I looked at the HTC website and I'm not sure I still get it. Or see the point in taking 3D pictures. And I'm assuming the screen is like a 3D TV thing? It does sound silly, but I continue to see ads for it on tv and was wondering what all the hype was.

I've demoed the LG Optimus 3D. Unimpressed. It's a total gimmick that's cool for about a minute before you realise that, if you owned a 3D phone you'd just keep it in 2D mode all the time except to show people how it's work. Couldn't see myself actually using the 3D features much, or taking 3D photos.

Late to the party, probably, but I just found out about Groove IP. Had no clue it existed and I hope that when I'm overseas and near some WiFi, I can make calls anywhere for free. Problem is, I'll have deactivated my Verizon account and therefore my phone number. Not sure if Google Voice will pick up on that since it doesn't check for it every time I send or receive a text using it. Hopefully it won't.

Exactly my thoughts, except that it wasn't cool for me from the very beginning. The image looked weird, distorted and wasn't sharp at all so I had to switch it to 2d mode to make it useful. Other people looked unimpressed too so hopefully the 3d trend will die out soon.

i wasnt too impressed by the 3D feature too. what happens if you want to share the £d picture with someone else? 3D isn't that popular yet so not everyone has 3DTVs, Monitors, graphics cards, phones, devices. so 3D won't be universal - the 'cool' factor limits the usability.

^Yeah, my thoughts too.

There was never a major phone that was exclusive to one American carrier and I'm almost sure that there won't be one.
Perhaps one network might get it sooner or a different variation (for example the original one while other carriers would get variations) or something.

We've seen flavors of Android on our tablets, smartphones -- even a microwave oven -- but Parrot's Asteroid receiver is finally ready to park in your car's dash, bringing a tricked out version of Google's mobile OS to yet another innovative platform. In addition to an FM radio and a line-in connection (duh), the Asteroid also includes USB connectivity, an SD card slot, music on demand, and voice activated music search. There's also hands-free calling over Bluetooth, contact voice recognition, and automatic phonebook sync -- all controlled using a built-in jog wheel or your voice, and displayed on a 3.2-inch LCD. The device connects to the web using your smartphone's WiFi hotspot feature, or by attaching a USB 3G dongle. Asteroid's built-in Maps app and external GPS antenna will be ready to help you navigate the highway for $349 beginning in October, but jump past the break for a peek at the receiver's red-light-cam-spotting iCoyote app in the meantime.
