Was just about to post that.

Google just bitch-slapped the ENTIRE tech world by doing this. Not only do Motorola have more patents than almost anyone... they have the actual patent for a "mobile telecommunications device" itself. aka, a mobile phone.

So long, Apple and Microsoft with your bullying tactics! Eat a dick!

It's all about Moto at this point. No wonder Sanjay Jha was smiling the other day when people were asking him about patents etc.

Holy crap. Now Motorola isn't a great company but their patents and tech + Google tech.. fuck yeah.

And you know what's awesome? Picture Apple suing Google for some crap ike they tend to do and Google coming back at them with "Bam! You have just released a new Iphone, it's a phone and we own the mobile phone patent so eat a dick, banned!".

It's what HTC should've done ages ago.

It might mean that he will stop releasing mods for other phones, or definitely spend less time doing so.

The unlocked bootloaders was a load of coonshit. HTC releases a web service for it? Moto still has the D3 locked down. What a joke.

A document that helped Apple gain an injunction against sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Europe, appears to misrepresent the device's similarity to the iPad.

A side-by-side comparison of the two tablets features a 'squashed' picture of the Galaxy Tab, making it look identical in size and shape.
Apple told the court that Samsung had "slavishly" copied its designs.
It is unclear where the original image came from, or if it was used in error.
When presented in the correct aspect ratio, the Samsung's screen appears longer and narrower than its American rival.
The 44-page document, submitted by Apple's lawyers, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, contains a number of other images which do not appear to have been altered.
Embargo
Samsung is currently banned from importing, selling or promoting the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the majority of European countries.
Apple is seeking to extend the injunction to the Netherlands, where many technology companies import their goods into the EU.
It is understood that the judge involved in the German case made his ruling based on a physical examination of the two tablets, rather than relying Apple's paper submission alone.
Patent law blogger Florian Mueller told BBC News that attempting to deliberately mislead the court would have been extremely foolish, given possible criminal penalties.
"I cannot imagine that any sane person would take a risk and intentionally manipulate evidence in this context.
"With different product versions being sold on different continents, and different pictures showing up at different points in time, someone may have been confused, but that's the worst-case scenario I can realistically imagine here," he said.

Yup I posted news on this some time ago. This is basically a "we take away your warranty" tool. That's why it's an online tool by the way.

Neither. He had a job before, it's not like he was working on CM full time, it was always his side project. Plus, there's over 20 developers that work on CM these days.

Half of that article is talking about what John Gruber wrote.

John fucking Gruber. The only guy in the world that can lick Steve Jobs balls for longer than MG Siegler can. Geesh.

50% worldwide market share to date isn't indicative of anything that needs saving.

Google doesn't need Moto. It's a genius tactical chess move, sure, but it wasn't the only move they could have made. The problem moreso was that Microsoft were also interested in buying Moto. Now, Moto staying as they were and the game is an even playing field, but Sanjay Jha fishing for a takeover means that Google have to consider what might happen if another company acquired them.

Having said that, you can buy all the patents in the world and it doesn't mean anybody is gonna buy Windows Phone 7 ;) Any small patent taxation per unit they've been getting from HTC so far (and not for long) is nothing compared to the hundreds of millions they are losing purely because nobody is buying WP7.

Microsoft need to stick with what they know. Actually, what they need to do is get rid of that sack of shit Steve Ballmer. Now that guy is a real clown.

When it comes to the CEOs of the so called "Big 4", Jobs is on deaths door by the looks of it with no apparent successor, Ballmer is an asshat, Larry Page has proved himself a genius tactical wartime CEO in a matter of months, and as for Jeff Bezos.... well... he's plotting something big and he's smart enough to pull it off.

And all the while, Bill Gates is sitting in his Seattle lakeside supermansion laughing his ass off, cos he has more money than ALL of them and doesn't have to worry about running a company any more. :D

If Ballmer has any sense, he'll be knocking on Bill's door for some advice right about now. But he probably isn't.

Motorola Droid HD Captured on Camera Next to Droid Bionic

Well what do we have here? A new Droid handset from Motorola, perhaps? What is seen in the above image is none other than the rumored Droid HD, pictured here for the first time. From what e gather the device will get a 4.5-inch display, one that very well could feature an HD resolution of 1280×720. At the very least expect qHD. It also gets an 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, sideloading SIM and microSD slots, and microUSB/microHDMI ports. The assumption is the phone will feature a dual-core CPU and possibly 4G LTE.

What is most noticeable, however, is the device’s thinness, which is apparent when seeing the device next to the Motorola DROID BIONIC Now the Bionic is no thin wonder by any means, so the overall girth of the Droid HD could be somewhat of an illusion, but there is no reason to think the handset could be measuring in the Galaxy S II range in terms of thinness. While we could easily hope the Droid HD will launch as an Ice Cream Sandwich device, it appears it be running a standard Gingerbread build. Either way, the new handset is enough to make us second guess our lust for the Droid Bionic. Is the Droid HD really the one worth holding out for? Head over to the source link for the complete gallery.

Report: Nvidia's Kal-El to power Asus Eee Transformer 2

Nvidia's third-gen Tegra chip - aka Kal-El - has reportedly been tapped to power the Asus EeePad Transformer 2.
Although little else is known about the tablet, thee deviceis expected to launch sometime in October 2011.

According to Fuad Abazovic ofFudzilla, the Transformer 2 will be the first Kal-El tablet on the market.
However, it should be noted that Nvidia says it has already clinched at least five device wins for its Tegra 3 SoC.
Kal-El was originally supposed to hit the streets sometime this month. Obviously, its release has been delayed and industry sources have pegged late October as the new debut date.
The quad-core chip runs at 1.5GHz and offers a 5x performanceincrease over its predecessor, the Tegra 2.

The new SoC also boasts improved battery life, along with anti-aliasing support.
"This is a huge step forward for Nvidia and [Nvidia CEO] Jen Hsun Huang said there are many companies who are currently working on Kal El designs," Abazovic explained.
"There will be many tablets and at later date, most likely in Q1 2012, we will see phones based on quad core Kal El. [Based on] Nvidia's Tegra roadmap, Kal El should have better computational power than Core 2 Duo."

I can't believe how good my tablet is now. Honeycomb is brilliant. And the tablet flies. It's quicker than the zoom I messed about with. Absolute bargain for £160. The screen viewing angles are pants... But.. I am more than happy with it. It is my new favourite toy... For this week anyway.

Any of you guys planning on getting an SGS2 in the US/Canada? One of the variants is gonna have a 4.5" screen.... and is supposedly getting Quadrant scores of 3300+, which may mean they've bumped the processor clock speed slightly, because the regular SGS2 gets 3000-3100 on stock. I'm kinda jealous, 4.5" screen sounds epic win.

That 4.65" 720p screen device rocking Ice Cream Sandwich will be epic beyond words if it's real.

Word has it Google will release the Nexus Prime rocking ICS in October... not long now...
