World Cup 2010

I don't remember seeing that but I don't deny the chance of it happening. While the yellow cards were questionable, every foul was clearly a foul. The replays clearly showed that. I didn't see any diving to the extent that you claim.

Now, with that said, enjoy this video:
the biggest problem with the referee was the fact that he wasnt consistent. He gave free kicks and bookings for fouls in the first half but failed to do the same for similar fouls in the second half. Klose second yellow was extremely harsh imo.

Harsh red. It was more ball to shoulder than arm to ball. Either way, the refs are on some kind of card trip... How many reds have we seen already? Good God.

Wow..what a suprise coming from an Italian referee. They are a bunch of dogs. They fucked us 4 years ago and have done it again. This is bullshit. Straight red? Fuck Italy, I hope they rot in world cup hell

I disagree, correct red card. I'm sorry, but Kewell moved his body TOWARDS the ball, got it on his upper arm, on the goalline, and as such he took away a clear goal.

Even if he just got the ball on his arm (unintentionally), it would've been a yellow and a penalty. Is it a bit harsh in a way? Yes. Unlucky and a bit sad? Yes.

But was it a red card and a penal? Yes.

One can also ask wtf the Australian striker was doing on his own goalline.

Still, it would've been better if the Ghanians just scored. Then we'd have a 1-1 after 25 mins and a cracking match. Now, the Aussies are fucked cos Ghana look like they wanna finish the job.

Disappointing match. I expected Ghana to barrel forwards and go for the three points, but they looked uninspired and when they got near the Aussie 16 yard box they suddenly became totally selfish. Stats showed 22 shots on goal, rofl. And 1 actual goal...from a penalty nonetheless. Pathetic.

Very African.

I agree with Duke, it was a penalty and a red card. I wouldnt say he actually moved his arm towards the ball but it doesnt really matter. I mean, in situations like this, referees have always given a red card. Im not even sure what the rules say. You usually hear that the player has to touch the ball intentionally but like i said before, im praxis, its always a red card.

An regarding the Anelka incident: Lol, im in no way an expert of the french football or the national team but Domenech sure as hell acts like he deserved this insult.

Apparently the French NT president said something along the lines of: "If the Anelka incident is true, Anelka should have been kicked off the team and sent home."

How can someone back up Dominech... lol.

Sebastian, you haven't commented about the Serbia/Germany game yet (at least I don't remember reading a post on it)... how come? I'd think someone like yourself would have much to say about it. lol

In relation to my last post...

Anelka thrown off French squad

The Associated Press

French Football Federation official says striker Nicolas Anelka has been thrown off the nation's World Cup squad after reportedly insulting coach Raymond Domenech.

Federation vice president Noel Le Graet told France's RTL radio that the decision was made on Saturday.

Le Graet says "the decision has just been taken ... It's shocking, because if anyone has protected Anelka, it's Domenech."

French sports daily L'Equipe reported Anelka insulted Domenech at half time during France's 2-0 loss to Mexico on Thursday when the coach offered him some tactical advice.

L'Equipe said Domenech was upset after being insulted by Anelka, who was then replaced by Andre-Pierre Gignac.

French federation vice-president Christian Teinturier said earlier Saturday he thought Anelka should have either apologized or been sent home.

"If, effectively, the words I'm hearing are true, he shouldn't be there anymore," Teinturier told France Info radio. "If those exact words were said, I can't understand why he was at training Friday.

"He should have been thrown out straight away or apologized, otherwise he shouldn't turn up again wearing a France training top."

Later in the day, Anelka was.

France captain Patrice Evra was set to speak to reporters later Saturday, the team's media officer Francois Manardo said.

French sports minister Roselyne Bachelot says the "huge pressure" on the French players because of the team's poor results is not an excuse for poor behaviour.

"The players must keep in mind that they are wearing France's colours and are considered to be role models by many youngsters," Bachelot said in a statement. "This obliges them to show restraint and dignity."

Anelka was left off Domenech's squad for the 2006 World Cup, even when striker Djibril Cisse was injured prior to the team's departure to Germany. Domenech took Sidney Govou instead in 2006.

But the Chelsea striker was a starter in all the warmup matches before this World Cup, and he also started France's opening match, a 0-0 tie with Uruguay.

The latest reports of a rift follow newspaper allegations midfielder Yoann Gourcuff is an unpopular figure in the squad and defender William Gallas is upset with Domenech for giving the captain's armband to Evra.

Only a handful of French players spoke to the media after the Mexico defeat left the French staring at possible first-round elimination.

France needs to beat South Africa convincingly on Tuesday, and hope Mexico and Uruguay don't tie their final game, to have any chance of progressing.

"We deserve the criticism," France midfielder Jeremy Toulalan said Friday. "Despite what was said, I think there were a lot of supporters who had hope.

"We owe it to ourselves to fight for these people."

Gallas won't speak

Gallas is refusing to speak to reporters for the duration of the competition, while Franck Ribery, Anelka and Thierry Henry — all mainstays of the team — have also not spoken so far.

Toulalan, one of only a few players to speak to the media after the Mexico match, fears the squad is now a collection of individual talents with no teamwork whatsoever.

Toulalan is close friends with Gourcuff, but wouldn't be drawn into talk of any feuding within the squad.

Some reports say Gourcuff sometimes eats alone at dinner, and Ribery and Anelka do not like him and pressured Domenech to drop him against Mexico.

Gourcuff was replaced by Florent Malouda, and did not play any part in the match.

Anelka would not pass

In the opening game against Uruguay, Anelka had a clear chance to pass to the unmarked Gourcuff during the first half but chose not to, prompting an angry reaction from Gourcuff, who threw his arms up in the air.

Toulalan did say, however, players should always behave professionally, no matter what their differences.

"We can't all be the best friends in the world," Toulalan said.

Gourcuff said after the Mexico defeat he was being made a scapegoat for the team's inability to score goals.

"It has been a collective failure over the two games. Football is hard when you can't play together," Gourcuff said. "Perhaps I have paid the price, I don't know. I've not had any explanations."
lmao.

one is as bad as the other imo. If a player talks like that to his coach then he has no choice but to kick him off. Anelka is a total prick. selfish overrated overpaid spoilt brat. Gallas is another such player. they would make you sick.

Meh, i had to watch the game at work instead of at home because i couldnt take a day off and the game started at 1.30 pm. Somehow, this circumstance wouldnt let the world cup feeling come up in me, which lead to me not being so furious about that game....and that fucking joke of a referee.

I mean we didnt really play well until Klose was sent off which was kind of disappointing (although expected from me). After that, it was a good game, keeping in mind that we were one man down. Overall, after seeing the Ghana - Australia match a couple of hours ago, im gonna eat my own shit if we dont win against Ghana.

Henry is such a nasty cunt imo. always was. very poor sportsman.

as for Ribery and Govou? well they are paeophiles and i hope they get locked up.

Ribery rated at 70 million. lmfao. he is not worth more than 20 million imo. such a massively overrated player who is far behind the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Kaka etc. Robben is 100 times better player than him.

and Govou should also get jail for impersonating a professional footballer. who started the myth that this guy was any good?

Woah woah, wait a minute. Ribery was useless this season, right. Cant really comment that much on his overall performances in the NT. The season before, he was incredibly good (still not worth 70 million but thats because nobody is worth that much).

Kaka for example, had a horrendous season this year. Right now hes far away from even being close to Messi or Ronaldo.

I dunno if I misunderstood, but apparently... the ref for this Cameroon / Denmark clash is the same one from the last World Cup for that game between Portugal and Holland. So, I expect a lot of cards. lol
