Correct decision imo. Very stupid tackle by Abidal. The Mexican prolly couldnt even reach the ball anymore but Abidal slid in poorly and caused a spotkick. Simple.

Lovely penalty as well btw. That's how they are done. Low and hard.

yes yes yes yes yessssssssssssss!! mexico won 2-0!! they couldve scored so many more early in the match. i was afraid that they would be left full of regret having not taken those chances, but they kept on going today and frankly were the better team all the way throughout. well done.

Gourcuff didnt play any part. he didnt have a great game v Uruguay but its strange he got no game tonight.

i have heard stories that the older players like Henry, Ribery, Govou etc dont talk to him and dislike him and dont treat him well while Toulalan and some other players are his friends and Toulalan looks out for him. Apparantly the likes of Henry and Govou wouldnt pass him the ball in the first game.

id have no problem with French players like Gourcuff, TOulalan, Gignac, Lloris etc but they they have so many utter prick in the squad as well. real sickening bastards

I've heard how they didn't want Gourcoff to be picked for the squad. Henry runs the French team more or less and the younger players like Gourcoff were revolting against him. So youre probably right.

Anyway, I thought Hernandez was onside? I think there has to be clear daylight for him to be called offside. On a Man Utd stand point he looks very good, he runs into space, he looks techincally good also.

How can Dos Santos not get in the Spurs side? I mean not even as a sub? :wondering:

Henry is such a fucking asshole.

yea it was very close.

Dos Santos was on loan at Galatasaray towards the end of last season and Ipswich before that. i think he had problems with his fitness and i dont think Redknapp fancies him but maybe after these performances he might go up more in the pecking order. i think he was indisciplined as well. i remember there was a photo of him drunk in the back seat of a taxi in one of the papers the season before last.

Was just talking about the Swiss goal with a friend, that it was offside. He noticed that none of the spaniards were actually protesting the offside. When you review the whole situation there's Casillas who absolutely torpedoes Derdiyok, then Pique handles the ball and finally Fernandes shoves it in.

The ref either didn't see everything or decided to take the path of least resistance and just gave the Swiss a goal.

But imagine that the one Spaniard on the goalline (i think it was 11, Silva?) handled the ball to prevent the goal. That would create the following situation:

Casillas torpedoes a man and takes away a goal scoring opportunity (red card), advantage to the attacking side, Pique handles the ball somewhat unintentionally (yellow), but still advantage, then a Spaniard performs some unregulatory goalkeeping (red and penal)

Now imagine a ref doing it by the book, rofl.

Even after thinking I'd sleep it off, I'm still fuming over the Nigeria red card. What an idiot that player is, they should boot him off the squad for as long as it takes. Again, what is the point of making it to the World Cup if all you're going to do is act a fool? My friend looked up his wikipedia profile right when he was sent off and it says he is the first Nigerian to be sent off in a World Cup game. What was more amazing was how fast they updated that information. I think Nigeria had what it took to win the game but, that red card cost them. Enyeama was brilliant as well, shame the mistake he made. It wipes away everything he had achieved so far.

The French got owned. All I could think was maybe the whole of Ireland was jumping around watching the French crumble like that. It was good to see Hernandez score, brilliant calmness to put that chance away. I'm a United fan, so I'll say he was not offside due to a lack of clear daylight between him and the defender :) As for the penalty, I agree that it was well taken. Low and hard into the side netting = no chance of the keeper saving it.
