would you risk your health for science?

What I'm asking here is if you were diagnosed with cancer or some other potentially fatal disease would you put yourself forward for new treatment that they wanted to try on people or would you stick with the old ways to be safe?

What got me thinking about this was some old lady getting treated for lung cancer and she was trying out new treatment to help cancer research even though it may not work at all, when she could of just stuck with trusted methods, in a way she's gambling with her own life to help others, would you do the same?

r.i.p to everyone who has died from cancer

Depends on what advice my doctor gives me, if he thought there was a chance it could work I would consider it. But if it was a stap-in-the-dark as such, I wouldn't - I usually just do what the doctors advise me to do, dont see why this situation would be any different - they know a lot more than I do.

I dont necessarily see the "old ways" as being "safe" in regards to cancer.... I guess I am bias though, having lost people to it. It depends on the diagnosis, if there was a chance the "old methods" would be successful, then naturally, that would be the way to go. If, however, the chances of fatality were high, I'd be more inclined to take a risk on something new.

Yet, I dont like the idea of gambling with my life. As noble as it sounds to die for the greater good of humanity, my instincts of self help and survival are probably greater.

Nah man, i got too much faith to deal with the likes of men, yet alone men who dont care for GOD, excuse me, thier creator. I would rather die or keep my faith and lived then to get help by someone who dont believe in GOD.

So i guess , in order words no.

I bet if it ever came down to it you would soon change your tune, what the fuck does god have to do with a doctor and treatment?

That is possibly one of the stupidest things I have ever seen posted up here, I would like you to apply that to your everyday life, only accept help from people who believe in god...please do it, just so you understand how seriously stupid what u just said is.

I heard that the University of Washington is giving 50,000 dollars to those who donate a left or right nut. I am tempted, extremely tempted.

lol Go ahead, you're good with only one :D

I don't know if I would do it or not. I guess if it's not gonna kill me faster, I probably would. I've wondered about this before because my dad has Parkinson's Disease and I've often wished there was some kind of experimental thing they're doing for it that he could get in on. But unfortunately, where I live, there are no such experiments, that I know of. Maybe if we lived in a bigger city where experiments like that go on all the time, he could be in on one. They've tried different new drugs on him but nothing like an experimental surgery or something like that. I think he'd do it if he had the chance and I'd definately support him on it.

You would give a nut? I'm sorry, but do you have any nuts to begin with? You have a female symbol by your name, so it made me a little curious. I'm apologize if I'm intruding. And I don't think your testicles have anything to do with Parkinsons disease.

I was talking about the topic of the thread, duh  That's why there was a space between what I said to Sofistik and my reply to the thread. Yes I'm female and no I don't have nuts. I have all the necessary female parts, nothing else, and damn good ones at that. ;)

Most of them are tho, if not atheists, then they believe in evolution. I would help anyone, but i dont want end and everybody helping me. I havent had a cold in what, 10 years or something, and when i did, it goes away in 12 - 20 mins. I had a bad cold last year tho, but i didnt run anywhere to get help, i stay my ass home and prayed, went to sleep, cried, prayed, and woke up and i was better.

I got alot of faith, so i aint worry. Whatever is gonna happen is gonna happen, but i aint depending on man to save my life, i dont roll that way homie.
