Are any of you downloading or ordering this?

is it worth it? i recall someone mentioning this in a thread back in march i think it was, and they had a whole lot of negative stuff to say about SP3 over SP2. so i am wondering whether or not it is worth updating my system to WINXP SP3 or not.

any suggestions, info or ideas or whatever is welcomed and appreciated. thank you.

are you not happy enough with SP2?
i am, its just that im wondering what benefits SP3 will bring to me over SP2 or if its worth getting SP3 because it is more updated and the developers have patched the security bugs found in SP2.

also this thread isnt just about me getting SP3, i'd like to get other people's opinions on SP2 vs. SP3 - and whether or not they are going to update to SP3 or not, and for what reasons.

thanks.

same. i had an oem version of windows xp (basically, i had a legit version) and after i installed sp3 i had no problems at all. none, what so ever. and i mess around a lot with all types of programs, old programs and games, emulators, whatever. nothing stopped working that had previously worked. only, like cooper said, the machine was safer.

If you are not running a legit copy of XP, don't install it. It will lock your computer down.
when you say legit copy what do you mean?

once i had to re-install windows because my pc was completely messed up. (from my friend's cd).

i reinstalled windows xp from a cd which was for a dell machine, although my machine is "tiny" (not dell).

I remember that i also had to verify a code for the reinstalled winXP to show i had the full version.
Cant remember where i got the verification code from but i enabled it to work and function fully.

^^so does this mean my copy is not legit?^^
