I don't want to ruin the Zimbabwe thread so I had to make this, cus I do want to discuss it.
When RS first came out there was no premium bs like they have now, still the limit(which seems to come and go now), and you can do more than 100mb per file, no big deal. What only a few know is when they started to do the premium account thing they actually paid people to upload shit to their site( they still kind of do with rewards and what not but this is different). It might not mean much to some but whatever, first off it's illegal (big deal I know), but these people were parts of communities like the one we have here and they would spread their shit pretty much forcing people to buy RS accounts, and hten the snowball kept growing, which I think is weakkk, but great marketing. Not a big deal I know but damn dirty.
My biggest complaint is it takes away from what the net is. Who in their right mind actually pays for anything they dl off the net. You're paying to dl shit you get for free, I mean come on. I'd understand if you got something exclusive or whatever but you don't, you get the same exact shit us others get. There is nothing special about RS, there is nothing they offer that other sites do not, all they offer is some wanna be hierarchy for people who like to pay for a "service", and people fell for it. If people used better alternatives, with no wait times, no upload limit, and also no dl limit there would be no need for this RS skull and bones like society that think they have something special. It all goes back to those first few peeps getting paid to spread the "new trend." Some weak shit RS is and Zimbabwe the Glorious is proof that you can do monumentous things without the use of RapidShare or 10 mother f'n dollars.
I understand why people do buy the shit though. At this moment in time it's an easy resource to use and a lot of people upload to it, but over time if they did not RS would not be needed and premium accounts would be useless. Only if though, I guess.
