whats life all about?

basicly we live to die. we live to live some happy moments and a lot of painful moments too.

so whats life all about? why do we keep on struggling to live when we know we will die someday?

and no i'm not suicidal. lol.

i used to get all philosophical on this question, but then i realized something. it's all bullshit. there is no answer cause no one really know what actually brought life here. and everyone seems to have a different take.

now if this is just for general discussion, i'm the wrong nigga. but if you're seriously pondering this, i say you stop. let this question answer itself with time and don't sweat yourself if it never does. just live.

You're asking the question of the meaning of life, carmi. The answer is not known. I'd say it is to be. To be and then to die.

As cliche as this sounds, you keep "struggling to live" because living is all you know how to do. We obviously can't know what it's like to not exist, because all we can remember/see/feel is life.

yeah. i guess i get that philosophical when i'm tired at nights before going ot bed.. lol i was thinking of that yesterday night. thats why i brought this up. i know its a question is no answer. but i wanted to know what people thought about that.

I like to consider myself a philosopher of sorts... and honestly the closest Ive ever come to the answer of life is by reading books..... I recommend Albert Camus, Fydor Dostoyevski, and Soren Kierkengarrd for starters........

my perspective:

death is an illusion in terms of how the human brain interprets it.....life and death are just polar opposites within our time line, just points on the map like your wedding, or your divorce party, or anything else you can think of in your life....the fact that we see them in a straight line is just becuase our brains can only see things in terms of length, width, and height...i.e a straight line......however this doesnt mean we can't understand concepts outside of this...

You're reading too much into things. Death is no illusion. Death is real. When you die, you cease to exist. It's no illusion that you cease to exist, no, you just die. Is it a point on the map? Yes. Yes, it is. It is our destination, however grim that may seem. And there is no escape either. We can try to seek refuge in religion, or hazy theories like you presented, but in either case, one day, we're going to die and that's final.

That's your argument and he was just saying his argument. Death is an illusion because time is an illusion, and yeah that's a spiritual philosophy. In this realm in this dimension we call our universe, people die. This was a personal spiritual belief directed to Carmi, and your criticism does nothing to benefit anyone...

And to me life is worth living because of love, love for nature, love for people, love for yourself, and most intimately love for God (if you believe). The meaning of life is unknown, but you can find your own meaning in love.

Nothing else matters.

Just because someone thought of a great philsophy about it does not make it so. Time is still no illusion and neither is death.

What I'm actually trying to see is that death is just death. One can concoct a 100 spirtual or rational philosophies about it, but in the end the act of dying will be the same as without all those philosophies.

So it's all very kewl and very intelligent-looking to post such theories, but sadly they are utterly useless.

DUKE: it is no 'hazy theory'....its a mathematically proven fact that there are more than 3 dimensions... the 4th of which is space/time however, you are correct in saying that there its soemwhat pointless trying to find refuge in religion

_carmi: let me put it to you this way....say the human brain saw our world in reverse....(i.e you died first, then at the "end of your life" you were born).....would you then fear your birth?... obviously it would be natural for humans in that instance to fear birth ,as it would seemingly be 'the end of existense'....wouldn't it?
